The biggest news to drop in that sphere was Me’arah’s selection as a McDonalds All-American. Due to the publicity of the announcement, the Los Angeles Lakers legend was naturally asked about it. According to the big man, it’s not just him but ex-wife Shaunie Henderson is also overjoyed with their daughter’s journey.

“Her mother and I were elated. We’re happy for her. I can remember with her being the youngest and me playing with the other kids, I wouldn’t let her play, and it would just, she wouldn’t cry. But she would get mad and I kinda liked that. I’m like, ‘Nope, you’re too little.'”
“I always told her, you’re too little, you’re too little. So she always had that fight in her…She’s done everything we’ve ever asked her to do. A beautiful, young lady and never gives us any trouble, plays hard.” Despite no pressure from his end, she is carving out her own path.
“I always tell my kids, we don’t need another basketball player. So if you wanna play, play. If you don’t wanna play, it’s fine with me. But, she’s doing great, having a great high school career. She’s gonna go to Florida, hopefully to the WNBA. But, I’m happy for her.”
