Can Shaq preach about marriage when his own was labeled 'loveless' by his ex-wife?

If there’s one thing NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal regrets profoundly, it’s his failed marriage. The Big Aristotle has publicly confessed his mistakes, but by then, it was too late. Years after their contentious divorce, his ex-wife has opened up about her regrets, sharing a heartbreaking truth about their relationship. So, when it came to advising a troubled fan, the Big Aristotle offered a thoughtful response.

During the latest segment of his podcast, the 4X champion was asked to advise a female fan who was conflicted about leaving her husband due to his mistakes. Speaking from his experience, O’Neal suggested when a wife is unhappy, it can ultimately impact the entire family. “Unhappy wife, unhappy life. So if you’re not happy, things are not going to work out and probably end up costing both of you,” O’Neal said, via The Big Podcast with Shaq

Understanding her dilemma, O’Neal advised her to “communicate” openly with her husband about her feelings and look to support him with everything to correct his mistakes.

Praising women as superheroes for their families, O’Neal gave an example of films and suggested, “I always look at all those ancient movies where they talk about the king, but the queen is always the one raising him up and pumping him up. So lift your man the best that you can because men go through a lot.”

The Los Angeles Lakers and his ex-wife who struggled with his infidelity, decided to part ways in 2011 and co-parent their 5 kids. Like the gentleman he is, O’Neal took a stand for his ex-wife after the recent controversy.

Shaquille O’Neal gracefully accepted Shaunie Henderson’s confession

In her first book and autobiography, Undefeated, Shaunie Henderson detailed how, during her marriage to O’Neal, she lacked the communication with her husband that she desired. She sought ways to spend time with him, but amidst handling her kids, she could only find 3 to 4 days when he was on a road trip.

This was the only time she had with O’Neal. Shaunie even confessed doubts about whether she truly loved O’Neal, expressing that she might have been more fond of the idea of loving her husband and family. This comment stirred significant backlash, with netizens and some sports celebrities criticizing the mother of five

However, Shaunie’s kids showed her immense support, and O’Neal was supportive as well. Taking to Instagram, he stated that he understood Shaunie’s side of the story and wrote, “I understand…I wouldn’t have been in love with me either.”

Although it was late, communication did eventually happen between the two.
