Shaquille O’Neal sparked a debate when he advised The Big Podcast listeners to not open up to women. Other media professionals have run with it, seeking the opinions of their followers and guests. Cam’ron, Ma$e & Treasure “Stat Baby” Wilson also wanted outside opinions on Shaq’s take on the It is what it is podcast. This week, former NFL pro, OJ Simpson was on the show with a wide variety of opinions. Towards the end, they finally asked what he thought about Shaq’s hot take. Simpson was initially confused.

When you say ‘open up to women,’ I don’t know what he’s talking about.” He went on to make things hilariously awkward, “Is he talking about confessing? No man, don’t confess. I think he’s right. Don’t say nothing… leave me out of the confession.” After the ‘confession’ confession, the hosts were left in splits. Ma$e was close to falling off his chair laughing. Simpson doubled down, “Y’all gotta leave me out of this one,” despite somewhat agreeing Shaq has a point.

O’Neal said on his podcast, “Open up to a woman… never. You don’t…” Like a man burned, he went on to add, “Because once you do, whenever something go down, they’re gonna throw it back at your face.

A debate has since ensued. Some question the validity of Shaq’s opinion, others think it applies to the general population, and some questioned what made Shaq harbor such feelings.

Rappers give their take on Shaq’s opinion

Radio Hall of Famer, Charlamagne Tha God claimed it’s not limited to just women.It’s not a gender thing, it’s a people thing to me.”  Cam’ron didn’t agree with the Breakfast Club host but thinks Shaq is right about being wary. “You test it out when it comes to a female, you give her a little bit of something if you really, really like her. And see if she and she bring it back up in your face and be like I can’t tell you s**t ‘cuz I I only told you that to see if you bring it back up.”

The rapper seemingly talked from his own experience regarding this topic. He says he’s been caught up in the middle of it and advises, “do it with nobody that’s brand new.” He means not really opening up in a relationship for the first two or three years.

Treasure, the only lady on the show, agreed with her co-hosts and said communication needs to be both ways in a relationship. But not out of spite. Whose opinion resonates with you most?
