Is it time for the Shaquille O’Neal and Dwight Howard beef to end for the greater good of the nation? Well, considering the two stars are at each other almost all the time makes the possibility of reconciliation thinner than the strand of hair. Despite this, former NBA star Keyon Dooling could not help but make an appeal of sorts to the two NBA legends.

During his appearance on The OGs, Keyon Dooling was asked if he sees Shaquille O’Neal and Dwight Howard ever settling their differences. The former Heat star’s answer was more of a suggestion than just an opinion:

“I think they should be at some point. I don’t think they need to run the fade… They’re similar. So, sometimes when you have similar energy…,” Dooling said, while Haslem chimed in to highlight the similarities to be aspects like both stars having big personalities, and both of them being dominating players. But since the two stars failed to understand this, Dooling had a rather harsh truth for Howard.

“Shaq is the OG… And at the end of the day… You have to humble yourselves if you want to get certain access and certain respect… From the people who paved the way… The way that he [Shaq] paid homage to… Wilt Chamberlain and people like that… Maybe Dwight gotta try a new tactic with Shaq… Just come off a little bit more humble,” Dooling said on the podcast.

The reason behind such strong opinions? Well, the former Miami Heat star believes there exists an opportunity where Shaquille O’Neal and Dwight Howard can work together to develop better Center players in the American basketball scenario because with them, “we’re losing the American big men… They’re like the last of the dying breed.”

However, given their timeline and the last conflict being quite recent, the odds are against peaceful co-existence.

The recent development in the Shaquille O’Neal and Dwight Howard feud

What’s your perspective on:

Could Shaq and Dwight's rivalry be holding back the development of future American big men?

Have an interesting take?

The Shaq and Dwight feud just won’t die down. If anything, it’s only heating up, and judging by how the first month of the year played out, the drama is far from over. And Howard might have even taken things up a notch by making a bold claim, suggesting that Shaq has held negative feelings toward two people he’s closely tied to: Kobe Bryant and Charles Barkley.

It all kicked off on X when Shaq posted something that didn’t sit well with Howard. And as expected, D12 wasn’t about to stay silent. “I know you care. Cuz yo insecure … been hating and talking … for 20 years. You too big to be this insecure. I hope you don’t bring my name up again. 52 years old tweeting me. And still hating,” he fired back, making it clear he wasn’t holding back.

But Howard wasn’t done yet. He went on to say that Shaq’s words were never just playful jabs—they were driven by jealousy. In fact, he even claimed that O’Neal once sent him a lengthy, five-paragraph DM just to criticize his career. “You’re still acting the same. Time to grow up,” he added.

What makes this even more interesting is that before Shaq’s post, Howard had already said something that got under the 4x champ’s skin. His comments during the GAUDS show seemed to have struck a nerve, setting the stage for yet another round in their never-ending feud.
