Shaquille O’Neal checked one item of his Swiftie bucket list. After sharing an encounter with the pop sensation, next on his list is collaborating with Taylor Swift. He’s halfway there, sampling her tracks among the many artists whose music he uses for his live DJ sets. DJ Diesel’s sound is as sharp and aggressive as Big Diesel was on the court. A little “Fearless” or “Blank Space” also helps him shake it up now and then.

Shaq confirmed he mixes Swift’s songs in his sets when he revealed how their Super Bowl encounter went down. “I think I play one of them,” he said coyly though he didn’t disclose which song. You’d have to be in the crowd of one of his performances to find that out.

Funnily, Shaq was playing the Ravens tailgate party while the team was facing off against the Chiefs in the AFC championships. Swift was in the stadium and while they didn’t meet then, O’Neal started his set with a jab at her. He encouraged his fans to throw middle fingers in the air and yelled, “We comin’ for that a**, Taylor!” That didn’t pan out the way he hoped. The Ravens lost, the Chiefs went to the Super Bowl, and won with Swift and Shaq watching.

There was no “Bad Blood” between Shaq and Swift for some playoff trash talk though. They met at the Super Bowl and O’Neal kept it cordial and quick. After expressing he wanted to shake her hand and take a picture with her, he did exactly that at their first-ever meeting in Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium. He eagerly got a picture to show his kids which he later flaunted on Instagram. He even told her, “love you” before they went to their boxes.

About two Super Bowls ago, O’Neal expressed one of his dream collaborators is Taylor Swift. He’s collaborated with GAWNE, LEVEL UP, Steve Aoki, and heavy hitters like Meek Mill and Rick Ross. But the Swift collaboration hasn’t worked out yet. He didn’t use that Super Bowl encounter to ask either.

At Shaq’s Fun House, his annual Super Bowl party, O’Neal said he’d like to take a picture with her and shake her hand. He rightfully referred to her as a “cultural icon.” He’s so starstruck with her, he claimed he searched on Google if he’s met her in the past and came up empty. Shaq even made up for the AFC jibe with a gift – an NFL-themed Judith Leiber purse.

He’s clearly laying the groundwork for a future collab. Fingers crossed DIESEL x Swift happens in the near future!
