“Jeanie, give me one more chance.” Dwight Howard might have downplayed his request to the LA Lakers owner by singing his appeal to her, but we all know D12 had a long-standing desire for a comeback to the league. Furthermore, there have been some like Robert Horry, who believe Howard still had enough gas to play on the Lakers with limited minutes. It seems, however, the recent developments with the Lakers have made the 3x DPOY completely give up on any hope.
And what has come out of a hope-deprived Dwight Howard has a loud and clear sarcastic tone.
“When am I going to the Lakers? I’m not… Y’all got three centers… Y’all got Kareem, I think Shaq said he’s coming back with his r***** a**, and then y’all will be good after that,” he said in a recent Instagram live. The comments come after the four-player trade between the Lakers and Brooklyn Nets, including D’Angelo Russell and Dorian Finney-Smith.

“Lakers-Nets trade is official: Dorian Finney-Smith and Shake Milton to LA; D’Angelo Russell, Maxwell Lewis and three second-round draft picks to Brooklyn,” So Cal News Group’s Khobi Price posted on X along with a Press Release from the Lakers.
However, this is not where it all ends. Following the trade reports, NBA insider Jovan Buha predicted 5 centers—Walker Kessler, Robert Williams, Nikola Vucevic, Jakob Poeltl, Jonas Valanciunas—that the Lakers could realistically be targeting ahead. What could’ve triggered the sarcastic response from Dwight Howard is the fact that he’s nowhere in the mix.
Yes, he stated he no longer desires to be in the NBA in a conversation with Kevin Garnett. But apart from his appeal to Jeanie Buss, let’s also not forget his meeting with Lakers coach JJ Redick, just a few days later. Something that had fans speculating hard for a potential comeback. But if the recent development with the Lakers is any indication, D12 seems to have no hope with the franchise.
And it’s not just these sarcastic comments that indicate his dismay against the lakers.

Dwight Howard’s blunt reaction to Lakers-Nets trade
Howard didn’t hold back when talking about the Lakers-Nets trade, and his reaction might make you raise an eyebrow. In a recent Instagram live, Howard referred to LeBron James as “LeGM,” the nickname often used to tease James about his alleged control over team decisions.
“LeGM made the decision. LeGM said it’s enough D’Lo,” Howard said, seemingly blending sarcasm with frustration. Most NBA fans would have heard this narrative against Bron before too. His influence as a player often fuels speculation that he has a say in everything. From roster moves to coaching changes.

But let’s be real—there’s no proof James pushed D’Angelo Russell out. His limited playing time had made this trade seem inevitable for months.
Still, every time a player leaves the Lakers, the whispers start. But this coming from a player who played with Bron on the championship team in 2020, along with his sarcastic remarks, indicates how visibly upset Dwight Howard is with the Lakers as of now.
