You can boast about being part of Shaquille O’Neal’s super awesome social circle but there is at least one downside to being his friend. Like not having unrestricted access to certain corners of his luxurious real estate portfolio. Actor Anthony Anderson found out in the worst way possible. While guest-hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live, his experience with Shaq differed from the guest, Gina Rodriguez’s. She’s co-hosting Lucky 13 with O’Neal and had a warm, gentle giant Shaq the entire time. Anderson has been O’Neal’s colleague and friend for so long and still hasn’t earned some essential perks.

“We’ve been friends for a long time,” Anderson prefaced on Jimmy Kimmel Live before his ‘Shaq story’ to Rodriquez. “So first time I was invited to Shaq’s… to his house for a party, I went to the party and then that’s when I realized we weren’t really that cool.”

The situation arose when Anderson wanted to answer nature’s call at Shaq’s house party. But the NBA legend with mega-mansions and multiple bathrooms to spare wouldn’t allow it. Anderson was designated to a portable toilet outside. “He wouldn’t let me use the bathroom inside the house. He made me use a porta-potty in the backyard.”

The Black-ish star has been Shaq’s friend for years. He was even on the 2021 Super Bowl pre-event, Shaq Bowl as part of the Shaq’s Fun House festivities. Actually, they’re frat bros, travel buddies, and fellow philanthropists. So this denial crushed Anderson.

“I was like, I thought we were boys, dawg. You personally invited me to your crib but you like, you got to outside.” Does that melt Shaq? No. But their friendship survived.

Anderson was on the other side of the desk on The Kelly Clarkson Show last year, where he dished on his ‘eclectic’ celebrity friends circle. His friendship stems from his honorary induction into the historically black Omega Phi Psi brotherhood. Shaq has been in the fraternity since he was a student at LSU. The nationwide chapter also includes Michael Jordan, Ray Lewis, and Steve Harvey.

His Omega Phi Psi brothers also enable Shaq’s philanthropy, especially during Shaq-a-Claus season. Anderson said that going to F1 events and playing golf are other ways these frat boys get together.

These bros give each other no quarter. Anderson even angered MJ when he beat him in golf. It is only fitting that Shaq evened the score by denying him bathroom privileges.
