Let this be a warning for everyone – Always make sure Big Diesel is stocked up on diesel. Though something as trivial as an empty tank isn’t going to ruin Shaq’s vacation. His friends seem pretty used to it too. They anticipated something like this when Shaquille O’Neal whisked his crew for some R&R during the Summer of Bass Tour. They landed in Muskoka, Canada, a destination O’Neal frequently visits. Between running into fans, Shaq did Shaq and turned the gang’s boat ride into an adventure.
We have Carlos Oberoi to thank for the latest addition to the Shaq-lore archives. Unlike Shaq vs Shark, the Shaq-Fu Radio DJ provided a definitive answer to whether Shaquille O’Neal can tow a boat. It started with an innocent question that Oberoi also repeated in his caption. “Do we have gas today?” O’Neal is at the wheel, casually about to start the boat as he says, “No.” That turned about as well as you’d expect.
Oberoi wrote, “last week I spent couple days up north for a hunting trip with my brother @shaq • couple days of stories from the past 30yrs but most importantly creating new memories. THIS WILL BE ONE FOR SURE GOING IN THE STORY BOOKS • lucky there was no SHARKS #TuuGuud #Jaws4.”

When the boat runs out of gas, Shaq throws a line to another boat. Because he’s a 7 feet, 325lbs of on-court dominance, he does the difficult bit of holding the ropes as the other vessel tows them. Because the standard procedure of tying the rope to the boat itself is overrated. Oberoi termed this the result of, “When you drive every lake in the hood.”

No helping hand from their friends. Shaq got them in this mess, so they relax and kick back on that very boat as Shaq tows them out. It had all the makings of the start of a creature thriller movie. Oberoi even aptly puts the infamous Jaws theme to it. His latent fear was if there were actual sharks in the water. But no worries. Muskoka advertises its lakes as shark-free, clear, blue waters.
His friends had no complaints about the fun time they had with O’Neal’s shenanigans. And they wouldn’t be the only ones to have Shaq brighten their days.
Muskoka loves Shaq
DJ Diesel is in the last leg of his EDM tour that’s travelled across Europe. After debuting the O’Neal Boyz with his son, Myles, at Tomorrowland’s Rave Cave, he’s made a quiet return to this side of the pond. He’s back home and even popped by the LSU basketball team’s practice. But before that, he spent the previous weekend in Muskoka which had a long civic holiday.
He’s been to Muskoka before and was spotted there in 2023. On this year’s visit, locals loved having him around. A few who ran into him at Port Sandfield Marina got pictures with him.

Muskoka loved having the giant among them. Those who missed him are inviting him back. With all that love, he might just take up the offer.
