We love watching Dwyane Wade do his thing. After leading the Olympic team to a gold medal in 2008, Wade has taken a seat behind the mic this time in Paris. We knew that the 3x NBA champion would offer a fresh perspective, and he did so with a unique introduction and pronoun mention for his former teammate LeBron James among others. Later, in his interview with NBC, he revealed the inspiration behind it.
“I know him personally, his pronouns are he/him,” Wade made the statement while calling Team USA’s matchup against Serbia. This went viral on social media with many fans appreciating the 42-year-old’s statement. So much so, that some even called it Wade’s signature line, similar to Mike Breen’s “Bang,” and Mark Jackson’s “Mama, there goes that man”. But Wade didn’t use it on LeBron the first time.
“I did not have it in my back pocket. When I was watching the Canada game, Shai (Gilgeous-Alexander) did something, it just came out. A certain generation understands what I’m saying, another part has no idea,” Wade told NBC News. Sitting next to Noah Eagle, the 3x NBA champ appeared confident throughout.

In Wade’s words, “This is new for me. They told me to be myself. So me being myself, I said what I said. It’s not a thing I’m going to say every game.” He was seen having lighthearted banter with Eagle and seamlessly transitioned to his new role. Whether it’s hyping up James or just enjoying the game, the enthusiasm and fun with which he calls the games has certainly struck a chord with many.

Wade also understands why his comment received both positive and negative reactions. He believes that while one generation relates to him, another does not see eye to eye or understand this. However, Wade will continue to make an impact.
Can we see Dwyane Wade as an analyst for NBC?
Previously, the basketball legend worked in broadcasting with TNT. After quite some years, he was hired by NBC as an analyst for the Olympic games. This new role has presented a huge challenge for him, but so far, Wade is excelling. He expressed his gratitude to his show partner, Eagle, for being supportive. But wait, there is more to it.
What are the chances of Wade getting hired for a permanent position in the company? NBC has just acquired the NBA rights after nearly two decades. Given Wade’s impact this season among the fans, the Miami Heat legend could be a fitting choice.

The 3x NBA champ has already given a green light, expressing his enthusiasm for returning to television and broadcasting. “If I get compensated the way I feel like I should get compensated, then yeah, I’m definitely open to it,” Wade said. Furthermore, he has emphasized how the NBC deal will benefit both the league and the players.
