Boston Celtics legend Kevin Garnett retired from professional basketball seven years ago. During his time on the court, the former player earned a reputation for being a huge trash-talker. From allegedly saying “Happy Mother’s Day, Motherf*****” to Tim Duncan to comparing Charlie Villanueva to a patient, the power forward was a menace throughout his NBA career when it came to getting under the skin. He even tested Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan which backfired.

During a recent podcast, two former NBA players discuss KG’s trash-talking and analyze the reason for engaging in the same.

Former NBA star names Kevin Garnett in his best trash talker list

Former Washington Wizards star Gilbert Arenas recently sat down for an interview for the ‘Iman Amongst Men’ show. The show is hosted by NBA star Iman Shumpert and his brother. The discussion featured various topics, including Arenas’s role as a father and the life he has been leading post-retirement.

During the sit-down, the focus diverted when Shumpert asked about “the best trash talkers” Arenas has faced. The 3x All-Star took some time to think before giving an answer. He listed out legends like Gary Payton, Sam Cassell, Mark Jackson, and Kevin Garnett. Arenas then singled out KG to address his doubt over how much he deserves to be on the list.

“But listen, K.G. is a funny one cause most of his conversation is to himself,” said Arenas. Shumpert revealed his own opinion about Garnett clearly as well, stating that “he talks s**t within rhythm”.

He added that a lot of things that come from the Celtics legend come out in the heat of the moment. He also said that another reason Garnett trash talks is to “hype up his teammate”.

It doesn’t matter whether Kevin Garnett is playing the game or just observing it from afar, the feeling to criticize the other players was not something that he would let go of. It was only a few days ago when a clip from March 2016 started to make the rounds of the internet once again. The clip was shot by a member of the audience during an NBA game. Garnett was in attendance, sitting just a row ahead of the person.

During the game, a moment occurred when New Orleans Pelicans player Eric Gordon was unsuccessful in his shot attempt. Garnett was not impressed and he could be heard saying, “Hell no. Trash a** ni**a”.
