While Shaquille O’Neal misses his kids’ games because of a superstition, the New Year seems to be a personal call. Yes, chances are that the former NBA star won’t be celebrating the start of this year with his children. The assumption is based on the latest social media update from Me’Arah O’Neal and Shaq’s existing plans for New Year’s eve.
Me’Arah recently took to Instagram to reflect on 2024, and her heartfelt post captured the essence of her year. “Closing the book on 2024, I’m reminded of the year’s many ups and downs, but most of all, its abundance of blessings… I envision a year of even greater blessings, personal growth, and fresh starts…” she wrote.
Accompanying her words were photos and videos from her biggest moments, including a gym session, highlights from her games, her graduation, and a family moment with Shaunie and Keion Henderson. But one person was missing from these snapshots—Shaquille O’Neal himself. His absence from Me’Arah’s highlight reel hints at the limited role he may have played in her milestones this past year.
And if you were hoping the New Year celebration would bring the father-daughter duo together, Shaquille O Neal’s plans say otherwise.

The NBA legend, also popularly known as DJ Diesel, is all set to throw a massive New Year’s Eve bash in South Florida. Picture this: the Pier at Armature Works lit up with fireworks, music echoing against the Tampa Bay skyline, and a six-hour set from Shaq starting at 8 PM.
We’re talking about a night of nonstop dancing, with performances by Henry Fong, Roxy Ferrari, DJ Camo, and Kelly Mae. There is one twist, though—his son Myles O’Neal might join the lineup. So, while Shaq seems ready to party the night away, he might not entirely leave the family behind.
Why the probability of Myles joining Shaquille O’Neal for the New Year bash?
Even before Shaq’s pre-planned Tampa festivities, Miami had an O’Neal party of its own. It was Myles O’Neal performing on December 30 at E11EVEN’s Winter Wonderland. While Myles was the main act, Shaq accompanied his son as the guest performer. A homecoming moment for Myles. Yep, he grew up in the city during Big Diesel’s prime era of the Miami Heat.
Now that his father played as the guest performer for him, he could be returning the favor and joining the party at the same time with Shaq in Tampa. We, however, cannot be sure that Shaquille O’Neal won’t be joined in by some of his other kids as well. Especially when there’s a possibility that the ex-NBA star chose Florida for the New Year bash, not just because of his connection with the state, but his kids, too.
As we already know, Myles somewhat considers Miami his home. And his younger brother Shareef has also been back in the city recently, helping out Shaq with Reebok. Meanwhile, both Me’arah and Shaqir presently represent college basketball teams from Florida. Now, all we can do is wait for the social media updates from the O’Neal family.
