Is Scottie Pippen's Game5Ball a genius move or a risky gamble in the crypto world?

As per reports, Scottie Pippen has a net worth of $20 million. Moreover, his latest partnership with the $32 Billion brand will definitely increase his stocks, or will it? Recently, Shaquille O’Neal became the first nonactive NBA player to form a partnership and launch his bundle. Now Scottie Pippen too is partnering up to capture the hearts of younger fans, but not like the Lakers legend.

The @Game5Ball is more than just history tokenized on the blockchain—it’s the future of gaming and collectibles. 🏀 We’re taking $BALL to new heights, starting with #Fortnite. 🔥 COMING SOON! Learn more about how to get tokens at http://Game5Ball.com.” Yes, the Chicago Bulls legend has been working on the tokens project since July of this year. And just last week, O’Neal’s skin bundle with Fortnite was made official.

Previously, Shaq had dropped multiple hints about the game and its $32 worth of publisher Epic Games. During his Toronto trip, DJ Diesel performed at the Rebel Entertainment Complex where he played a video where animated Thanos Shaq was seen. It was enough for people to understand the hint because Thanos Shaq was a very similar character to the Fortnite skin. Now Scottie Pippen showcased another way to be part of the game.

The Game5Ball token, according to him, marks the beginning of the Bulls Dynasty. In the 1991 Finals Game 5, Scottie Pippen scored 32 points and 13 rebounds, helping his team beat the Lakers. And with this, the 58-year-old decided to cash in on the memory. He tokenized it and brought a real-world sports object to decentralization.

Pippen plans to sell a small portion of it to fans by creating digital tokens of the ball on the blockchain, allowing fans to own a piece of this historic memorabilia.

Have an interesting take?

The launching of a cryptocurrency in 2024 is surely a choice. Many celebrities tried their hand previously but failed to record a successful venture. Earlier this year, even the league is currently facing litigation for its alleged role in endorsing Voyager Digital Holdings because the National Basketball Association (NBA) approved an agreement between Voyager and the Dallas Mavericks. Reportedly, the league is responsible for the $4.2 billion loss.

However, Scottie Pippen has an emotional reason. “I feel like this ball was something very meaningful for me. Even at the moment when I grabbed it, I just sort of knew that that was going to be a start of something special.” He continued, “So what we’re doing, we’re giving this ball back to the community and allowing them to see the value and also to build the value in this asset.”

But the project has certainly come under a lot of scrutiny, just like any other cryptocurrency. The Bulls legend clarified, stating “103 ETH was removed to mitigate the attacks.” He had to clarify because the situation escalated when information surfaced, indicating that Pippen and the developer wallet carried out a transaction that involved the dump of $330,000 worth of BALL tokens.

So does the partnership with Fortnite give fans the assurance in Pippen and his new venture? Only time will tell. But it will be worthwhile to see the two NBA greats sharing some history together.
