When you talking about the most dominant is only one or two players.” When Shaquille O’Neal appeared on the Pat McAfee show, he proudly stated that he was the most dominant player in the league. As per the 4x NBA champion, he is okay with Wilt Chamberlain being in that conversation but no one else. However, Nick Young had a problem with Shaq and his dominant take and even dragged his former team, the Los Angeles Lakers, with a hot take, leaving fans furious.

I love the Lakers but the shaq and Kobe team is not beating 2017-18 warriors …. all this shaq is the most dominant big ever stuff they lost to Billups, Hamilton, Prince, Rasheed Wallace and Ben Wallace 4-1 respectfully warriors in 5 on both teams,” Young, a former Lakers and Warriors player, stated on X. Interestingly, Young was part of the 2017-18 Warriors team that won a championship.

As Young stated, the Los Angeles Lakers did lose to the Detroit Pistons in 2004 in one of the biggest upsets of this century. The Lakers were missing a few key players in 2004 as Malone suffered a knee sprain in Game 3, played hurt in Game 4, and sat out Game 5. While Shaquille O’Neal was regressing at the time, he was still a handful for any team. He averaged 26.6 points and 10.8 rebounds in the Finals. These numbers were a far cry from the dominance Shaq showed during the Lakers’ historic three-peat from 2000 to 2002.

In the Finals in those 3 years, O’Neal averaged a stunning 35.9 PPG, 15.2 RPG, and 2.9 BPG. So we can see how he wasn’t allowed to be the same kind of a monster in the 2004 Finals by the Pistons. That Detroit team was indeed special. Earlier this year, Pistons legend Rasheed Wallace spoke about beating the Warriors team which Young mentioned.

Wallace pointed out that they were a defense-first team, and would limit any opposition. He also pointed out the weakness of Stephen Curry on defense. The 2004 Pistons were the second-best defensively rated team in the league, limiting the opponents to just 84.3 PPG. Even Kobe Bryant admitted that Detroit was the better team in those Finals. So fans too wanted to remind Young about the same.

Nick Young criticizing Shaq? Does he even have the credentials to talk about a legend like Shaq?

Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant fans give Young a reality check

Earlier this year, Nick Young mentioned that Kobe Bryant, who he shared the court with as a teammate, wasn’t a graceful player. According to him, the Lakers legend tried hard when he scored, and it wasn’t natural. The 5x NBA champion was always proud of his hard work and never shied from being the hardest worker in the room. So a fan was tired of constant so-called hot takes. “Another Wack Intake from you bruh.”

On the Gilbert Arenas’ show, Swaggy P also mentioned how Kevin Garnett was a better player than Tim Duncan. He explained that KG would fit in the Spurs because they were the better team, and said to look beyond Duncan’s championship. But the 5 championships that he won were in three different decades, which he did speak about. That’s why there was another unimpressed fan. “Here you go again just saying sh*t 🥱🙄.”

One fan even used Young’s former teammate Kevin Durant’s meme image to remind him not to troll anybody. “Somebody help this brother out.” KD commented on Noah Lyles when he disapproved of NBA teams celebrating being the World Champions. One fan was just tired of all the what-if scenarios that come up on the internet. “can we retire talking about the hypotheticals when it will never actually happen? coulda woulda shoulda blabla such a waste of time. who cares. live in the present. these takes on my feed are so annoying. how do i get them to stop 🙄 @NickSwagyPYoung.

Another fan raised a question to Young and asked him why didn’t he compare the three-peat Lakers with the Warriors. “So you’re comparing the team that lost to the pistons but not the teams that won 3 rings in a row to the warriors? lol they were different teams.” The Lakers were on a dominant run and after the three-peat, they were still competing. In ’03 they reached the Conference Semis and in ’04 lost to the underdog Pistons in the NBA Finals.
