It’s been 4 years since the NBA world was shocked by the sudden passing of Kobe Bryant. While heading to the Mamba Sports Academy for his daughter Gianna’s basketball game, the Los Angeles Lakers legend, his daughter, and seven others met with a fatal helicopter crash on January 26, 2020. On the 4th anniversary of the heartbreaking tragedy, fans around the world remember the late Black Mamba. However, one fan stood out as he revealed all the emotions that he felt that day. Being a father himself, a Twitter user named Kenny penned down how he broke into tears after hearing the news.

“4 years ago was such a conflicting day. I remember reading the reports of the passing of Kobe Bryant. I remember silently praying as rumors of his young daughter were circulating. Then I remember the sinking feeling when it was confirmed she was gone too. My 2 y/o daughter was napping and I remember holding her tightly. I remember imagining what it would be like to be going down in that helicopter and looking at your little girl, knowing there was nothing you could do. And I sobbed at the thought,” wrote Kenny.

It was hard for people to process the information that Kobe Bryant had actually passed. But for Kenny, as a father, he had placed himself in Kobe Bryant’s shoes. He couldn’t imagine the grief. The thought of losing his own daughter made him start crying. And as painful as it may be, it is also through keeping our loves ones close that we can continue the legacy of Kobe.

Kobe Bryant lives on in the hearts of the people

Some fans still find it hard to believe that Kobe Bryant is actually gone. He had retired from basketball a few years ago and was enjoying fatherhood and suddenly Kobe was no more. But many fans recognize how they continue to be inspired by the way the Black Mamba spent his time.

“4 years without Kobe and Gigi – a loss that still echoes in the hearts of many. Kobe’s impact stretched far beyond the court, leaving a legacy of determination and love. Remembering the Mamba and his daughter today,” wrote another fan when expressing how Kobe’s teachings has been helpful in life.

Fans miss the 5x NBA champion. But they are also grateful for all that Kobe left behind for his family and fans.

Another fan reshared the iconic mural that was built in Los Angeles in 2020 following Bryant’s accident.

One fan paid his respects to Kobe Bryant and his daughter with this personalized illustration and wrote, “This is my tribute to you. #KobeBryant.”

But in the end, Kobe still lives on in each and everyone of out hearts as one fan perfectly wrote, “Legends never die. Rest in peace Kobe Bryant #24.”
