The 1994 Houston Rockets team had a unique roster. Every player was competitive and eagerly awaited their chance to show their greatness. However, patience was not their strongest suit. One former NBA player quickly lost his calm during a random locker room conversation. The former NBA player recently shared his wild experience with All the Smoke podcast hosts Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson. And this isn’t the typical story.

Vernon Maxwell is well known in the NBA community. His run with the Rockets, which won back-to-back titles in 1994 and 1995 is still unforgettable. Over the years, he has shared several stories from his career. And one of the most insane and hilarious of those involves him getting slapped by The Dream. During the podcast, Barnes asked the legend if there was any truth to the incident.

“Yes, a lot of truth to s–t,” he responded as laughter erupted in the room. This special moment is also shared on IG which is reshared by both Barnes and Maxwell on their IG stories. “My guy great time,” Maxwell wrote.

The former NBA player recalled that particular day in the locker room. He was upset with his teammates for not passing him the ball. “I’m having a bad first half. So I’m mad when I’m getting mad. I’m walking, I’m spitting,” he said. This was during halftime.

While his former teammate Sam Cassell tried to calm him down, Maxwell was too angry to listen. That’s when The Dream, Hakeem Olajuwon, who was standing behind him, told him to stop, calling it unprofessional. However, the 2x NBA champ didn’t appreciate the advice and responded, “F–k that s–t. Man, I’m tired of you two.”

I shouldn’t have said that because he came in and put his goddamn hands up, big old hands on me. Oh, man, he slapped the s–t out of me. He slapped the s–t out of me so hard. I mean, I thought a motherf—-r punched me….Man, them big old a** hands.” And do the fans believe?
