Richard Jefferson and Ex-Clippers Star Back James Harden?s Bold ?System? Claim

James Harden recently made headlines after calling himself a system and not a system player. The media and many fans did not receive this well. This is mostly because of the situation that he found himself in. He has been requesting trades to teams that would give him a chance at a championship, but then he would force his way out.

The Old Man and The Three podcast recently uploaded a clip on Twitter from their upcoming video. During their conversation, JJ Redick and Tim Legler were talking to Richard Jefferson about the recent comments made by James Harden during his introductory press conference with the Los Angeles Clippers, but surprisingly, these great minds of basketball agree with what Harden said.

James Harden is not wrong for calling himself a system

Tim Leglar started it off by saying that he agrees with everything that James Harden said. He confirmed that what Harden said might not be a good thing, but it is the truth.

Richard Jefferson also had the same sentiment and agreed with what Legler said. The media have not been kind to Harden since he made these comments! He was criticized for calling himself a system, as it appeared that he didn’t succeed with his own reasoning. But that is not the real truth.

Yes, he did not win a championship, but it is not like Harden’s actions did not elevate the team he played for.

Jefferson clarified the jibes coming at Harden, and said, “‘Oh! You are a system, so what happened in Brooklyn?’ Well, they had the number one-rated offense like we’d ever seen. If it wasn’t for a hamstring and a toe, they might have won an NBA championship. ‘Oh, well you are the system so what happened in Philly?’ It’s like well, he led the league in assists, and Joel Embiid won the MVP. So when you start breaking it down-“

Harden plays the game a certain way. He plays at his own pace and has the ball in his hands almost all the time. The shots often come at the end of the shot clock. But even then he is constantly elevating his teammates as well. When he controls the pace of the game, he also makes sure to set his teammates up for success.

This makes it clear that Harden has built the system surrounding himself, and he is the focal point. So the team plays around him and that is the reason for him having epic 50 and 60-point triple-double games. JJ Redick also added that the media just goes after certain players just for the fun of it. But when you actually break things down, it makes sense from Harden’s perspective and he is in fact a system. The only thing that can be held against him is the timing of the statements.

The Clippers are building their chemistry

James Harden has struggled with the Clippers since joining the team. The Clippers lost their first five games with Harden. Things were not working, and the stars needed more time to get accustomed to playing with each other.
