Besides being a music lover, if your taste lies in the genre of rhythm and blues, it has to be a sad year. Just last month, the soulful Roberta Flack passed away. And just when fans were recovering from it, another unfortunate news struck the music world. R&B icon Angie Stone, who was most known for her soulful voice, has recently passed away. Amid prayers and condolences pouring in from heartbroken fans and fellow artists, basketball legend Spencer Haywood also joined those mourning, expressing his grief over the tragic loss.

Early Saturday morning, tragedy struck when Stone was involved in a fatal car accident in Montgomery, Alabama. She was traveling with her band and crew when their van overturned on Interstate 65. Even though everyone else in the van escaped with injuries, unfortunately, with luck not by her side, Stone was the only fatality. The worst thing? Fans who were waiting to hear her had to leave with the painful news. The group had just performed at the Mobile Area Mardi Gras Association Grand Marshal’s Ball and was on their way to another event in Baltimore.

Spencer Haywood took to Instagram to share his grief. Posting a photo of Stone, he wrote, “ANGIE STONE. REST IN PEACE.. ALL PRAISES TO THE MOST HIGH GOD OF THE UNIVERSE.” He also included her song No More Rain in the tribute, a reminder of her deep impact on the music world. His words show just how deep the feeling of sorrow is in the world. To make the tribute even more meaningful, he paired the post with her song No More Rain. The track, one of her most emotional and beloved works, speaks about overcoming struggles and finding peace—making it a fitting choice for remembering her legacy.

It hasn’t been long since we lost Roberta Flack. The singer, known for her hits like K—— Me Softly, passed away at the age of 88. But Flack wasn’t just a singer—she was a storyteller. Her songs carried deep emotion, and her five Grammy Awards, including a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2020, are a testament to that! Sadly, her health issues at an age got the better of her.

Recently, Spencer Haywood shared a tribute on Instagram. In his story, he shared a video from back in 2017 when India.Arie performed for Flack! The caption read, “The great NBA basketball player @ralph.simpson.3150 daughter @indiaarie singing for Roberta Flack.” Through this, he expressed his love and admiration for the late artist.
