Many from the Phoenix Suns community felt a personal loss after famous radio host DJ Super Snake passed away unexpectedly a few days ago. Working in the field for over 40 years, Snake had an untouchable impact on the people of America, especially the ones in The Valley. Emotional stories about the 61-year-old have been coming out for the past few days and Phoenix Suns legend Charles Barkley finally decided to open up about it. He even has a big regret about his ‘good friend’.
Snake had created an impact in Phoenix right when Barkley was traded to the Suns in 1992. Barkley shared, “When I got traded to Phoenix in 1992, he had the no.1 radio show in Phoenix. We became really really good friends all these years.” The Chuckster further added, “Really good person, really good person, he’s gonna be missed,” but the 1993 MVP did not know his name.
‘Super Snake’ was his stage name and Barkley did not know what his real name was. He added, “I don’t even know his real name… I should find out his real name.” Nevertheless, Snake was considered a lucky charm as right after he started covering Suns basketball on the radio, the team made it to the 1993 NBA Finals, which was the first Finals appearance for the franchise.

1993 was a dream year for Barkley and the Suns. It is one iconic year that everyone in Arizona still reminisces about. Reports revealed, people back then would wait all day for Super Snake to give updates about the game and if Barkley secured a win for the city.
The 61-year-old DJ unexpectedly passed away on December 30. His family was understandably devastated and asked for privacy at this time. However, the impact of Super Snake was unmatched in Arizona.

Snake asserted his dominance in the radio field by taking up the role of a host for ‘HOT 97.5’ and ‘HOT 103.9’, which was famously known as the ‘Rhythm of the Valley’. On the other hand, he would entertain people with his DJ parties. As per reports, the 61-year-old was planning something huge for New Year’s Eve, but sadly things did not go his way.
Former Suns star Eddie A. Johnson, who was also famous for his time in Phoenix shared a few emotional words on Snake’s demise. He shared on Twitter, “Nooooo! This man was so amazing and uplifting. Prayers go out to Super Snakes Family, friends and Fans.” To precisely describe the impact of Snake, Barkley said, “He was like the man in Phoenix when it comes to being a DJ.”
