Footwear giant Nike has been a major part of the evolution and success of the NBA. Although at the beginning they weren’t exactly a fan favorite, once they brought in Michael Jordan, the collaboration changed the world. Today, every athlete wishes for their own range of shoes with Nike.
However, there are some who prefer to go another way. Kevin Garnett plays a whole different ball game. KG recently revealed that when he was offered to be part of the billion-dollar company, his assessment of the situation made him take another route. This further led to KG creating something on his own.

There is no denying the fact that Nike is the biggest brand in the business. Starting from Jordan, they have built an ever-lasting legacy by bringing in some of the greatest athletes around the world. Today, their roster boasts sporting legends like Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, Cristiano Ronaldo, and LeBron James. Despite being the hottest brand on the rise, Nike was brutally rejected by the Boston Celtics legend. Apart from calling them “sh*t”, KG recently detailed his experience when he was first offered to partner will the multi-billion dollar company.
KG was recently in conversation with Nick DePaula on his show KG Certified. They were discussing the emergence of Nike as the premier basketball shoe and the opportunities Kevin Garnett has had to work with them. The Celtics legend said he was first approached by the company back in 2000 for a collaboration. When he was shown a few of their prototypes, Garnett’s disappointment was apparent on his face and the same was caught on camera. He said, “Turn the camera off. I f**ked that up”. His denial led to his empowerment as an entrepreneur.
KG said that after all the deals went south, he decided to step up and create on his own.

Nike’s recent mega signings
While Nike boasts a long range of superstars on their rosters, they have even bigger plans for the future. Recently, the footwear giant signed thirteen rookies to their brand. This also includes the wonderboy Victor Wembanyama and Brandon Miller. This will give them an edge moving forward as the finest prospects in the league are all currently signed with Nike. Additionally, their deal includes signature shoes for all thirteen rookies.
