Dirty Dancing, is a cult classic movie still leaving its effect on audiences, whether it be a first-time watch for this generation or the past generation rekindling its love for the movie. The latest instance has been a mix of both. Ex-Indiana Pacers star Reggie Miller watched the movie with his kids and the after-effects will leave you in splits and in awe of the father-daughter bonds.
Taking to his official Instagram account, Reggie posted videos of him recreating the iconic lift by Patrick Swayze in the movie with two of his daughters. “After subjecting my kids to watch one of my Top 10 favorite movies of all time Dirty Dancing 😜 (bad parenting 🙄), I couldn’t help trying to get my girls to do the iconic lift that Patrick Swayze and @jennifergrey nailed.. So I’m asking all my dancing aficionados what we can do better…” read the caption to Reggie Miller’s post.

It is worth mentioning that Reggie has 5 children in total. Two from his ex-wife and three with his present life-partner, Laura Laskowski. The ex-NBA star has been known to be close to his kids. And this is not the first instance of Reggie Miller’s children recreating something iconic. Back in 2022, the ex-Pacers star was fed up with his son trying to replicate Stephen Curry’s long distance shooting.
“Here’s the problem I have in my household… My son’s favorite player is Stephen Curry, and everything around here is ‘Warriors.’ I’m yelling at him in the backyard to stop shooting 30-footers, and do layups. ‘You’re not Stephen Curry,'” Reggie Miller said back then on the ‘Dan Patrick Show‘. However, this time, it is the 58-year-old who couldn’t help but recreate Patrick Swayze’s iconic lift, being the impact Dirty Dancing left on his children.

Released over decades ago, not many would have expected the movie to become a global sensation. But by the 20th anniversary of the movie, it had already sold over 10 million DVDs, becoming the first film to sell over a million copies on home video. However, Dirty Dancing was more than just another teen flick.
While the movie, living up to its hype, reignited people’s interest in dance forms, it also addressed broader issues. Dirty Dancing dealt with social issues like classism, abortion, and female empowerment. It sparked conversations that resonated with audiences back then. And these issues are relevant even today and that’s why so is the movie.
