Who could be next? Charles Barkley and the Inside the NBA cast will start working under ESPN next year onwards. This is just the first of many changes we can expect after the 2023-24 NBA season ends. Earlier, there was much tension when Chuck scared everyone by hinting that he would leave TNT and then announcing his retirement. Luckily, he put a hold on that thought. Now while Jamal Crawford has officially declared himself a free agent, could his former colleague Reggie Miller be the next to join the list?

Andrew Marchand of The Athletic shared that NBC has shown interest in hiring the Pacers legend. The basketball icon has extensive experience, having called 650 national NBA regular season and playoff games. The 5x NBA All-Star known as “Miller Time” boasts a vast career in broadcasting. He has been an NBA commentator for TNT and a college basketball analyst for CBS Sports, completing 19 years working for the network.

However, if he decides to remain with TNT after its deal with the NBA ends, the analyst won’t be able to cover live games and more. That issue could easily be resolved if he opts out of TNT and joins NBC. As per NBC’s $27 billion deal with the NBA, the company will need more experience as well as fresh faces for the analyst job.

So, Miller joining NBC, which is a subsidiary of Comcast worth $165.12 billion, might be helpful for the veteran. Interestingly, while he has already signed an extension deal like Barkley, there’s a major difference between the contracts. Chuck’s contract includes an opt-out clause, but it’s unclear whether Miller’s does.

Despite this, Miller has hinted that this year could be his last with TNT. Responding to Chuck’s retirement plans, Miller remarked that if this truly is their final year, he wishes to make it the best.

Reggie Miller wants to end this year with a bang

Fortunately, Chuck changed his mind about his retirement. But like the fans, Miller too was surprised when he first made the announcement. During his appearance on The Dan Patrick Show, the Indiana Pacers legend was asked about Barkley’s decision.

That was when he claimed that this could be retirement for all of the members as well. While he appeared a bit skeptical about it, Miller addressed it by saying, “First of all, let me say this: this could be retirement for all of us at Turner Network next year.”

He further added, Look, dude, we’re gonna go out with a bang. So, whatever happens at our network, whether we get a piece of the pie and we’re one of the four horsemen or not. If this is our lame duck year and my last year at Turner, we’re going to have fun and go out with a bang.”

This was before Warner Bros. Discovery seemed to have lost its rights to broadcast NBA games. While Miller looks forward to making the best out of this year, Crawford chose otherwise. Turner Sports even offered a deal for the basketball legend to continue his last year.

However, he has already announced his departure from the company. And it’s safe to say, his incredible performance in the media industry isn’t going unnoticed with several offers coming his way. An official update is now awaited.
