This new season has been full of disappointment for the San Antonio Spurs. The fans had high hopes because of the addition of Victor Wembanyama to their roster. However, it hasn’t gone as planned till now as they are currently on a 12-game losing streak. In addition to that, there is another problem brewing in San Antonio.
Recently, NBA veteran Eddie Johnson said that the Spurs are having a rough time, and it could get worse from here. His concern is regarding Wemby and the lack of support system he has around him to win games. However, Johnson also said that there are a few positive signs that will help them in the process.

The Spurs were considered lucky before the start of the new season. People had a pretty good reason to think so as well. The 7 ft 4 French national is not just incredibly tall but is also very flexible and possesses everything that makes for a great ball player. In addition to that, he was also said to have a type of hype around him which was last seen during LeBron James‘ rookie year. It is fair to say that people wondered if we would get to witness something special this year.
However, all hopes have fallen flat till now in the season. Not only Wemby has failed to carry the team on his back, but they’re currently at the bottom of the Western Conference. Regarding this, Johnson said, “I’m sure they telling him, be patient.”

As per the 1989 Sixth Man of the Year, a young team like the Spurs need all the support they can get at this time. Moreover, the 64-year-old said that Wemby has a long career in front of him and this is not a time to panic just because you’re not getting the desired result.

The Spurs don’t want to piss off Victor Wembanyama
There is a lot riding on the youngster, especially in the context of the Spurs. They are in dire need of a world-class player who can win games for them. However, the 19-year-old Wonderboy has failed to do so in his first season so far. According to Johnson, Popovich is doing a lot more to hype his team up than he has ever done before.

He said that “Mentally, right now, [the Spurs] are having a tough time”. And during this tough time, the one guy they don’t want to piss off is Wembanyama.
