Even those who weren’t Los Angeles Lakers fans were heartbroken after Kobe Bryant‘s death. That much of an impact, the Black Mamba made in the league, and across the world. As much as we loved him, coming to terms with his death was equally challenging. Lakers President Jeanie Buss recently revealed what helped her heal from the heartbreaking loss.
Eulogy speeches are meant to pay tribute to the ones who left us. But LeBron James‘ words struck a deep chord with people, offering them some respite from the pain.

Lebron James’ emotional speech was a source of solace for Jeanie Buss
No measure of time or medicine could heal the pain caused by Kobe Bryant’s passing. He created a lifetime of memories with the Lakers for the fans to cherish. In her latest interview, Lakers President Jeanie Buss touched upon those memories. While she agreed with how it was hard to deal with loss, Buss added that LeBron James’ speech helped her heal.
The Lakers had postponed their game with the Los Angeles Clippers to grieve the loss of one of the shining stars of the basketball world. Prior to their first game after Bryant’s death, James paid homage to the legend by giving a speech.
Jeannie Buss said, “LeBron gave the most amazing speech I realized that is how we’re going to heal.”

Moreover, she stated how the COVID restrictions and lost human connection made it hard for her to deal with the situation. She held on to the memories and warm words for solace and hope.
The 4x NBA Champion had the option to narrate his written speech. However, he chose otherwise.
James ditched written speech to pay tribute to Kobe Bryant
Notably, the King decided to ditch his written speech he was provided. LeBron James said, “Laker Nation, I would be selling you short if I read off this so I’m going to go straight from the heart.”
The 4-time NBA MVP added, “So in the words of Kobe Bryant, ‘Mamba Out’, but in the words of us, ‘Not Forgotten’. Live on brother.“

Both James and his teammate Anthony Davis got a similar tattoo, to pay their tribute to the Lakers’ legend. The tattoo had a snake referencing to the legend’s nickname; the Black Mamba, two roses, and Bryant’s jersey number.

Kobe Bryant was a significant part of the Lakers’ legacy and it was reflected in the two players’ heartwarming gesture.
