The market for Michael Jordan-related memorabilia has “skyrocketed” ever since ESPN aired The Last Dance documentary series in 2020, as per Alex Schiffer, FOS. If somebody needs any further proof, earlier this year, the 2003 Upper Deck Ultimate Collection Michael Jordan Signed Logoman was sold for $2,928,000. An all-time record for any Bulls legend’s card. And the shopping spree for the 6x NBA Champion’s fans still continues.

That’s why Sotheby’s, which claims to be the premier destination for auctions and private sales, once again held an auction for MJ memorabilia. “Colossal | The Ultimate Jordan Collection” sold for a combined $8.5 million in auction.

The most notable item was a game-worn jersey that His Airness donned for 17 or more games during the Chicago Bulls’ championship 1996-97 season that sold for $4.7 million. In that same auction, another important Dream Team-related item fetched high value.

The exact American flag that Michael Jordan wore at the 1992 Olympics during the Gold Medal ceremony has sold at @Sothebys for $1.8 Million. Jordan famously wore the flag to cover the Reebok logos on his USA track suit. Flag was also signed by the “Dream Team” and coaches.” Nick DePaula stated on X.

So from Mojo Sports videos to Sotheby’s collection, the range of memorabilia that fans can collect is unimaginable. Interestingly, the objects continue to grab attention even if they are not exactly what a collector might want.

As per cllct.com, during a signing event in July, MJ graced fans with his presence. During the event, 10 cards received PSA 10 grade and 4 of them had special inscriptions from the Bulls legend. But many collectors and dealers weren’t thrilled with it. The pen choice resulted in a bold blue autograph, which did not look great on the card.

The ’86 Fleer MJ has Michael Jordan dunking over a defender. The background also has things going on that show many fans in attendance. So, there was a possibility of using a white marker as well. That is why it was not His Airness’ fault, but rather a wrong choice of pen.

In June, the Bulls #23 did a private signing for 10 of his Fleer rookie cards. Interestingly, a PSA representative was present, and they graded both the cards and the signature a ’10’.

It was the first time in the company’s 30-year history that such an event occurred. Despite retiring two decades ago, the craze of Michael Jordan doesn’t seem to stop anytime soon. And these auctions are just a sign of his legacy and dominance in the fans’ hearts continuing.
