The legendary trio crucial to the Chicago Bulls’ second three-peat rarely spoke to each other. Yes, that’s right. Dennis Rodman once revealed that the only time he spoke to the duo of Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen was on the court. Perhaps their on-court conversations alone were sufficient enough to forge a bond capable of dominating the opponents. While The Last Dance put more light on the importance of Rodman to the team, some people still want to give most of the credit to MJ and Pippen. A resurfaced clip might help ease those fears.

Boston Celtics legend Kevin Garnett shared the clip on his Instagram Story. The clip shows Jordan discussing the defensive strategy with Rodman during one of the Bulls’ games against the New York Knicks. Towards the end of the clip, Jordan can be seen asking Rodman to guard Allen Houston if the shot clock was running down. And it’s safe to say it left The Big Ticket impressed.

Along with the clip, Garnett wrote, “Salute to the GOATS of this shiiii Big Respect. You ever wonder what a convo between two of the greatest sounds like in a game. This is Gold.” While MJ was the poster boy of the Bulls with his godly athleticism and shot making abilities, Chicago’s defense is what won them championships.

MJ, Pippen, and Rodman are arguably the greatest defenders in their positions in league history. Put them on the same team and they become unbeatable. That’s what happened with the Bulls as they had the greatest regular season of all time (72-10) till it was eclipsed in 2016. They won three championships in a row while not really encountering any major issues. And this clip above shows why.

As described by Garnett, this is truly a gem moment. After watching this clip where the duo seems to have a deep understanding of each other’s game, it’s hard to believe that they never had an off-court chat during the three years Rodman spent in Chicago.

The Chicago Bulls trio never spoke to each other

The Worm led the Chicago Bulls and the league in rebounding. He had a significant role in the championship runs and both Jordan and Pippen were aware of that. Over the years, we have heard numerous hilarious off-court stories of Rodman with Steve Kerr, Judy Buecheler, and Luc Longley. However, there’s almost none when it comes to Jordan and Pippen.

In an interview with Graham Bensinger in 2011, the champ revealed that he never had an off-court conversation with the duo. “I thought it was important for me to go there and win. Me and Scottie, and Michael, never had a conversation in three years in Chicago. Only time we had a conversation is on the court. That was it,” Rodman explained.

Quite strange given the trio’s impact. Pippen, in his book, Unguarded also shared that he rarely had any off-court conversations with Jordan and Rodman, which explains the former Detroit Pistons star’s comments. Even though it once more shows their greatness on the court, it is unfathomable that such a thing is possible.
