When Shauni Henderson came out with her memoir, Undefeated, she sent shockwaves among the NBA fraternity and the fans. Not only did she open up about her and Shaq, she opened up about the real challenges of being married to a professional athlete, including the heartbreak of infidelity. And now, Shaquille O’Neal has confirmed one of Shaunie’s struggles, admitting that his former teammate Dennis Scott introduced him to Atlanta’s infamous Magic City strip club—a habit that contributed to his troubled marriage.
During a recent interview on The Big Podcast, Shaquille O’Neal said, “D Scott (Dennis Scott) he introduced me to a place called Magic City in Atlanta. Look it up, just look it up.” In a lighthearted exchange, host Adam Lefkoe jokingly referred to the club as “a library,” a comment Shaq playfully echoed.
O’Neal has previously admitted to his infidelity, acknowledging that he was not a loyal husband to Shaunie. In her memoir, Shaunie described how Shaq’s absences raised suspicions about his fidelity, though she eventually chose to forgive him. Her decision was influenced by witnessing her own mother’s struggles with infidelity in her parents’ marriage. “That’s why I eventually forgave Shaquille for the things he did wrong in our marriage.”

Shaunie’s parents were together for over five decades till her father passed away in March 2022. Although her mother chose to stay in the marriage, she never forgave her husband. Learning from her mother’s experience, Shaunie forgave Shaq, even as her mother encouraged her to reconcile during their divorce.
“They’re men. They’re going to mess up all the time. Get over it and move on,” Shaunie Henderson revealed in her book. But she believed that messing up and stepping out of the bounds of marriage were two separate issues. Further, she added that infidelity would always become a burden, “I want to give him a kiss and cuddle with him and not ask myself, Has he done this with three other women today behind my back? I don’t want that burden for the rest of my life.”
Despite their separation, Shaq and Shaunie have maintained an amicable relationship and are successfully co-parenting their children, often celebrating milestones together on social media. Shaunie’s memoir made headlines upon its release, and Shaq’s social media posts, shared with his 35 million followers, offered a glimpse into his perspective on their past relationship.
Shaquille O’Neal addressed his problem on social media
“Looking back, I don’t know that I was ever really in love with the man, but I was in love with the idea of being married to the man I had a family with.” In the book, Shaunie mentions her first marriage with Shaq and questions herself if she truly ever loved him. Many people were puzzled by this take. But Shaquille O’Neal’s cryptic post cleared many narratives.
“I understand…I wouldn’t have been in love with me neither. Wishing you all the best. All love, Shaq.” Plus, he added the caption, “trust me i get it.” That’s why there was no back-and-forth between the two. Both have been amicable, and even Shaunie never blamed Shaquille O’Neal for the mistakes.
