Carmelo Anthony is celebrating one of the most important days of his life. Carmelo and La La Anthony’s only son turned 17 on March 7. While he continues to deal with the expectations of extending his father’s legacy, Kiyan has always found support from his parents and that was the case again. The ex-Denver Nuggets star has taken the occasion as an opportunity to send out love and blessings to the potential successor to his legacy.
Melo shared a special birthday post dedicated to his 17-year-old. “Happy Birthday @kiyananthony! Watching you build yourself into the man you’re meant to be is the biggest blessing. Proud of you, son,” read the caption to the post. Melo shared a gallery of photos featuring the father-son duo. Kiyan responded to his father’s birthday wish in the comments with a simple yet affectionate “my guyy”.

The comment section on Carmelo Anthony’s post included birthday wishes from some other NBA figures as well. “Happy Bday young fella! #PiscesGang,” read the comment by former NBA player Donté Greene. Ex-LA Clippers forward Darius Miles also commented “HBD” on the post, extending his wish to Kiyan. Meanwhile, La La Anthony also did not let the occasion pass without extending love to her son. La La uploaded a reel dedicated to her son’s birthday.
The reel featured various cherished moments between the mother-son duo. “Happy birthday to my son and my greatest blessing Kiyan…17 years old is CRAZZZYYYY…holding back some real tears…but sometimes I just sit by myself and thank God for bringing you into my life…,” read the caption to the reel. La La further, in the caption, described Kiyan as the best thing that ever happened to her. It is worth mentioning that both La La and Melo take every opportunity to express their love for their only child.

Both the parents have, time and again, expressed their desire to see their son grow to his maximum potential. However, the duo has also maintained focus on Kiyan not losing his individuality in an attempt to live up to his father’s legacy. Back when Kiyan was on an official visit to Syracuse, he had mentioned how there was no pressure on him just because his father also went there.
“My dad always tells me, ‘Don’t feel like you got to go to Syracuse just because I went there. Really look into these colleges and choose where you want to go,” Kiyan had stated back then. Similarly, his mother also has placed a high priority on her son’s individuality. She had once told Kiyan that his journey does not have to be a copy of his father’s journey.

Kiyan’s admiration for his father and love for his mother knows no bounds.
