After committing to Syracuse with a lot of fanfare, Kiyan Anthony’s final season at LuHi began with a nightmare. After a high-flying dunk, the no. 1 recruit in New York took a hard fall, resulting in an injury that sidelined him for two months. After returning two weeks ago, he has taken the world by storm. In his pursuit, his parents, La La Anthony and Carmelo, though separated, have supported their child in unison. The BMF star even lost her voice while supporting and recently re-shared her son’s achievement.
“HIM!!!!!!!!!!!” The one-word message on the Instagram story was with the post where Kiyan Anthony won the MVP crown. A week ago, the Long Island Lutheran squad took down AZ Compass Prep 63-57, where the two-way guard scored 17 points. His father, Carmelo Anthony, was also in attendance and later witnessed his son win the MVP award.
His performance included a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line and 5 for 10 from the field. Even on that post, La La Anthony dropped support with a comment, “Super 🔥🔥🔥🔥.” Previously, on game day, she uploaded multiple stories to support the LuHi senior.

“Proud mom!! Lost my voice screaming so loud.” In another story, La La Anthony added, “I’m so proud of Kiyan, MVP of the game today.” But that time on the sideline made him fail another hurdle.
The 2025 class of McDonald’s All American features some of the best and most elite players, poised to showcase their talent. But one of the notable names to miss out is of La La Anthony’s son. Reportedly due to missing a chunk of this season, he missed out on being eligible for the All-American Game. Maybe that’s why she added the story to show more support for him, despite the setback.
Despite the MVP claim, La La Anthony’s son knows the job is not finished!
Kiyan Anthony’s explosive nature truly put him on the map after his EYBL performance. In the summer at the AAU circuit, representing Team Melo, Kiyan averaged 19.6 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. Plus some notable displays dropped 29 points against Team Final (PA) and 28 against Houston Hoops (TX). Due to injury, his productivity hasn’t been the same, but he knows his task for the Lutheran squad.

Carmelo Anthony and his son, Kiyan, watch the Don Bosco Prep Ironmen compete against the McEachern Indians in a game during the 50th annual City of Palms Classic at Suncoast Credit Union Arena in Fort Myers on Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2023. Kiyan Anthony and the Long Island Luthern Crusaders defeated Westminster Academy earlier in the day.
“I’m trying to win, win any game. We could win Nationals, win the tournament, win anything.” During the Crusaders’ practice seasons, La La Anthony’s son spoke to PIX11 News. “Now just that’s momentum to keep winning and going to Nationals, going to the in-season tournament. Just try to win everything.”
This is indeed a similar message to what his father, Carmelo Anthony, spoke about months ago. Being the number one recruit of New York, and yet missing out on the All-American Game, might have stung a little. But a support system like Melo and La La Anthony, who hype up every victory, might just ease that pain.
