Will Kenxton Perkins surpass his father's legacy, or is he just riding on Kendrick's coattails?

Have an interesting take?

“He who walks in his father’s shoes shall grow wise with every step” is a saying that every dad hopes to witness in their lifetime. NBA dads are no different—it’s like passing a baton and watching their shadow on the court. Kendrick Perkins is a prime example of this. The 40-year-old, deeply passionate about the game, never misses an opportunity to cheer on his son’s on-court prowess.

Perkins, the star of two worlds, is also hungry to see his son do great in the court. Fortunately for him, his 13-year-old son has been following in his father’s footsteps from a very young age. The young talent regularly appears in the Instagram stories of the former Boston Celtics player. And once again, he has won the internet’s attention with his impressive solo play.

Sharing a small 15-second clip in his Instagram story, the Texas-born analyst quoted, “When @kenxtonperkins steps on the floor, you better get ya popcorn out!” It seems the video of Kenxton Perkins playing coast-to-coast and pulling the shot right has impressed his father. And in a hint that the young lad will go long and this is just the beginning of his career, the number 43 of the Celtics added, “Oh, we just getting started!!! #Perkinsboys.”

This isn’t the first time Kendrick Perkins shared moments with his older son on social media. Kenxton regularly appears on his dad’s Instagram, whether it’s showcasing his games or tagging along as the duo travels to various court events. For fans, the bond between the two Perkins—father and son—goes beyond just dad and child; they seem to share a genuine friendship as well.

Kendrick Perkins’ son is ruling the internet since ages!

‘Baby Jokic’ is not an internet sensation just today. The kid has been in this space for over 5 years now, dating back to 2018. Baby Kenxton’s basketball skills were talked about by media personalities even then, when he was playing for his second grade. Reacting to the then viral clip, the ESPN analysts said, “Oh, Kenxton Perkins is Kendrick Perkins’s son. Is he shaped like his father? And can he jump? Let’s see what we have here. Yeah. That is second grade. Oh, wow. Muscle them. That’s my son.”

In a video posted by his dad, the young ‘big boy’ was seen walking with his arms wide, playfully mocking the defender before executing the ‘Rock the Baby’ move after sinking a shot. Impressed by his son’s strength and dominance on the court, Kendrick Perkins proudly gave him the middle name ‘Stone,’ a tribute to his ability to threaten anyone and carve his own path.

Kenxton Perkins’ journey in basketball is just beginning. While he has already shown remarkable promise, there’s still much more to learn, achieve, and prove in the years ahead. His story is one to watch as he steps out from the shadow of his father, with the potential to carve his own unique and distinguished path in the NBA.
