“It ain’t that hard to find a center,” Dwight Howard had sparked speculation just a few days back. The Lakers need a center, as Anthony Davis has emphasized. One of the most enticing options as per fans is Dwight Howard. However, a reunion couldn’t happen, as the Lakers had initially planned to acquire Mark Williams. But with that plan falling through, fans are now urging “Superman” to step in.
Howard previously had hinted at his desire to rejoin the Lakers as a center, and those hopes have entirely crumbled. This is because the Lakers had to rescind their deal for Williams. As per reports, Williams failed his physical. That potentially opens the door for the 3x DPOY.
However, it seems Howard has had enough and maybe shifting his focus elsewhere. “Too bad I’m a podcaster now,” Howard wrote on X. He also shared pictures of himself in a Lakers jersey alongside a photoshopped image of him in a Superman costume. During his time with the Lakers, Howard’s physical presence and rebounding playing next to Anthony Davis to elevate the team was notable.

Fans have been actively pushing for Howard’s return, flooding him with tags and messages over the past few days. Even before the Lakers’ trade for Williams fell apart, many had already been calling for Howard to rejoin the roster. However, he wrote, “Lakers got a center 🔥 now yall can stop tagging me.”

So, will he be interested in the potential offer? While the Lakers’ stance remains unclear, fans are working hard to convince Howard.
Fans beg Dwight Howard for his NBA return
The good news is that Howard is back to sharing clips of himself playing for the Lakers. He is certainly reminiscing about those days. But does he want to return? In one of his posts, he simply added a clock emoji, creating suspense. This fan wrote, “So are lebron amd JJ. You’ll fit in just great.” Good attempt!

It’s true that Howard brings experience, having last played for the Lakers in the 2021-22 season. This was his third stint with the team. So, this fan is very confident in Howard and wrote, “Not all hero’s where capes but some do. You can do both 🎙️🏀 in this bonkers timeline of the simulation. Lakers need you Dwight. When that phone rings, have the cape ready. #LobCity ahead.”
Fans are clearly on edge. Some are upset about how the trade fell through. The Lakers were supposed to send rookie Dalton Knecht and Cam Reddish in exchange for Williams from the Hornets. And fans have been busy convincing Howard. This netizen wrote, “Cmon you got one more run in you don’t ya? Haha.” Another wrote, “Come back please 🙏”
Others, however, are relieved that Dalton wasn’t traded, believing he could develop over the years and become a valuable asset to the roster. Some even argued that he could potentially team up with Doncic.

Calling for Howard to return, this fan prayed, “Dwight, pls come back. PG is a podcaster now too but he has a max contract with the Sixers. Bro even had more uploaded clips in Youtube than field goals with Sixers this season If he can be in the league, so can you.”
While the 8x NBA All-Star remains a great option, he is well past his prime. But this fan suggested, “sign the 10 day demon.” Will Howard be able to make a change if he were to return? Alternatives like Jonas Valančiūnas and Nikola Vučević are also great choices. Whether a reunion between Howard and the Los Angeles Lakers is in the cards this time unfortunately remains uncertain.
