The 2024 American Century Championship has nearly 89 athletes and celebrities participating this year. Some of the notable names include Ray Allen, Travis Kelce, Austin Reaves, and Charles Barkley among others. But the defending champion Stephen Curry will not be seen this year courtesy of his commitment to Team USA for the 2024 Olympics. However, his father Dell Curry, and brother Seth Curry have continued the family tradition of participation.

Taking to his official Instagram account, Allen shared his experience playing against Seth and Dell, among other stars. He shared a series of photos from the tourney, including snaps with the Currys as well. Some other photos featured Allen taking a swing on the course, and a chart that seemed to project the score in round 1 of the tournament. “Played with a couple of Curry’s today in the @acchampionship I didn’t play my best but in 13th spot and looking forward to tomorrow,” the 2x NBA champ wrote in the caption to the post.

As per the shared chart, Allen closed the first tee with a total of 14. Meanwhile, Kelce closed with -2 and Reaves with 11. On the other hand, the Curry father-son duo managed 19 and 16 each. Who took the win there? None of these names. It was Jason Kelce with -24.

The Currys are definitely missing their ace even if that was just the first tee, but they don’t seem to mind.

Speaking of Steph’s absence, his brother termed it as missing a big piece, but he understands his present commitment. “His presence is felt, being the defending champion. It’s not hard to miss him one year so he can go to the Olympics. That’s something that’s once in a lifetime. He’s doing what he needs to do,” Seth said, as per NSN. Despite having nearly a 15-year long NBA career, this is the Golden State Warriors star’s first appearance at the Olympics.

Even the 4x NBA champ himself, in an earlier statement in May, stated his disappointment at not being able to defend his title at the American Century Championship. “But the chance to represent my country and, hopefully, win an Olympic gold medal the first time at the 2024 Games in Paris is an opportunity that I simply could not pass up,” he added. However, Charles Barkley has hilariously termed this as an excuse to avoid his defeat.

For the first time in the tournament history, Barkley earned points for a full round in the modified-Stableford scoring format reports NBC sports. It reveals that though Chuck struggled with down the stretch, he still finished at plus-3.

Tiger Woods’s once hilarious imitation of Barkley’s swing reflects that almost everyone in the golf community knew of his struggling form, which he has now worked upon. But it seems his confidence has already peaked considering he has trash talked the defending champion, Stephen Curry just after 1st round.

“Steph Curry, you a coward… Ducking me. You knew I was going to beat you this year. You thought you were going to skate because you’re going to the Olympics? What kind of weak excuse is that?” Barkley told KCRA 3’s Mike TeSelle. Though this most likely comes in good humor, Steph Curry is yet to respond to it. Or will it be the other two tournament participants from the Curry family?
