It’s been established that Draymond Green likes to keep an upper hand on the court. His ways of doing things often end up in a verbal altercation, and at times, physical. Recently, Green choked Rudy Gobert on the court which ended up with a five-game suspension for the 33-year-old.

NBA veteran Rasheed Wallace recently took responsibility for Green’s “bully” behavior. Although the two have never been on the same team and Wallace retired as a player in 2013, the 49-year-old unveiled where his attitude comes from and how is it related to Wallace’s career.

Wallace is a Detroit Pistons legend. The Pistons have had a reputation in the league that was more prevalent during his time. Wallace said that Green’s behavior comes from his experiences in the Pistons locker room. He said that Green was friends with the son of the Pistons GM and therefore had access to their locker room. He would have been a teenager at that point, growing up in Saginaw, Michigan. Wallace said that whenever Green was in their locker room, and the cameras weren’t present there, their language wasn’t as filtered as what’s usually seen in public.

He said that the 4x NBA champion has picked up habits from his experiences in the Pistons locker room. He said, “That’s our fault… cause [Draymond] grew up in our locker room… that’s why he doing the bully sh*t he doing now”. Wallace was also notorious for his on-court antics and has had several suspensions and fines slapped on him in his career. So if he did influence Green, his recent behavior can be used to back that claim.

The recent incident with Gobert is surprisingly not the biggest thing that Green has been a part of. He has earned an image for himself that showcases that Green is not someone who will take the peaceful route to resolve conflict. He has punched his teammate in the past as well.

However, Green’s fights are not always a product of his on-court beef. Last time, when he went against Gobert, it was because of the issues that his teammate Klay Thompson was having with the 31-year-old. Although he did violate rules and code of conduct, in the end, it was him taking a stand for his teammate.
