Remember October 5, 2022, the Golden State Warriors training camp, the moment that shook the franchise? Four-time NBA All-Star Draymond Green threw a punch at his teammate Jordan Poole. And even before the sweat dried, it became one of the most controversial incidents in team history. While both players have seemingly moved on, TNT Sports hasn’t. The network recently revisited the altercation and brought the controversy back into the spotlight. Now, NBA legend Kevin Garnett has stepped in to defend Green, adding a new layer to the ongoing discussion.

Garnett came across a TNT Sports broadcast flashing an all-too-familiar headline, “DRAYMOND GREEN PUNCHED JORDAN POOLE.” Three years had passed, yet here it was again. For Garnett, this wasn’t just unnecessary, it was a cheap shot. He took to Instagram, posting a screenshot of the segment, and showed his frustration. Why drag this up again? Hadn’t the league moved forward? But TNT Sports surely hadn’t. Garnett’s criticism wasn’t just about the headline, it was about the relentless cycle of media narratives. The way stories refuse to die when there’s still engagement to squeeze out of them. And sure enough, Garnett didn’t hold back.

Garnett directly went after Turner, the powerhouse behind TNT Sports. He wrote, “Cmonnnnn Turner… Really? 🤔😳 Yall do better bro frfr”. He also stretched the matter by saying, “Petty asf”. Well, nobody can blame Garnett for the matter. The NBA community knows that the incident was a heat-of-the-moment mistake, one that came with heavy consequences. Draymond Green took accountability, voluntarily stepping away from the team and publicly apologizing to Jordan Poole. Yet, here it was, being dragged back into the spotlight. Kevin Garnett’s final words summed up what many were thinking, “ Nah not coo💯 Move on pls..”.

Draymond Green owns up to his mistake and apologizes to Jordan Poole three years later

In the most recent episode of The Draymond Green Show with Baron Davis, Green opened up about why he chose to apologize again, more than two years after the initial apology. He said, “I responded because, you know, it’s been three years,” Green said. “Like, let’s move on, you know? We’ve moved on — like, supposed to move on, man. I really am sorry.”

Green’s been with the Warriors for all 13 of his seasons, winning four NBA championships along the way. Poole was drafted in the first round by Golden State in 2019. He was a key contributor to their most recent title in 2022. He was leading the league with a .925 free-throw percentage and averaging 18.5 points a game. Before the incident, the two were close friends until that one moment shattered everything.

Green also said, “Move on, bro. Like, it is what it is. I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have punched him. But, you know, it happened. Let’s move on, man.” But the real question now is: Will this apology be enough to break the ice, or will it just fuel another controversy? What’s your take on this?
