Any sport is built on rivalries. When it comes to the NBA, that distinction goes to the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers. Despite the iconic rivalry, it’s been more than a decade since the two sides had an active rivalry ongoing. A grueling 7-game war, an iconic Kobe pass (and an even more iconic press conference) would pave the way for a 5th Championship for Bryant. But, for 3 long years, the oldest rivalry in the book would add a new glorious chapter.
