Michael Jordan, being an inspiration to basketball players, is a no-brainer. It has even more meaning for kids growing up in Chicago, the place where His Airness created a dynasty. But for Patrick Beverly, apart from the NBA Jordan, Minor League Baseball Jordan also is an inspiration. Because of the once-Milwaukee Bucks point guard’s latest venture outside America.
After his 12-year stint in the NBA, Patrick Beverley signed for Hapoel Tel Aviv B.C. For the team’s pre-season, currently, the 36-year-old is in Greece. Traveling through the airport, he explained that the players were expected to represent the team’s attire. “Not only do we stand out by the size of, you know, the guys on the team, but everybody got on, you know, this red collar shirt with three buttons and, and we just, you know, yeah, team vibes.”
Bev admits he has taken a liking to it. “you know, find a way to put a little flair, a little swag on it,” he narrates. Just then, his podcast co-host drew the similarities with the Chicago Bulls legend and his baseball journey. “Yeah, it’s, you’re part of the team, you know, when Michael Jordan went and played minor league baseball, he was riding the bus with the guys down in Birmingham, you know, it’s a similar vibe.”

During his time with the team, Beverly has received a lot of love. He even claimed to understand the love and support that LeBron James receives. Some fans took issue with the comparison with LeBron, but all Bev wanted to share was his latest experience.
Beverley signed for the Israeli Basketball Premiere League as he awaited a new contract in NBA free agency this off season. “They gave me everything I asked for,” Beverley reasoned. “I couldn’t refuse.” He ended up with a 2-year $4 million deal. A historic one compared to the minimum for his experience, he was being offered in the NBA.
While Beverley left for the respect of his game and experience, Michael Jordan was believed to have taken on the path for something of an opposite sentiment. Over multiple reports, two reasons come to light. First was his fatigue from playing basketball, as he practically achieved everything. Even the second Gold medal with the Dream Team. The second reason is very close to his heart.
A look back at Michael Jordan and his Chicago White Sox days
Due to his father’s untimely death, MJ decided to pursue a path that his father wanted him to do. Since this was also the same sport Jordan loved but had to abandon in order to pursue his dream in the NBA. Since the Sox owner was also the Bulls owner, there were no issues with the contract, Michael Jordan agreed to a Double-A ball team affiliate with the White Sox.
Mike Huff, former White Sox outfielder, and Jordan’s training partner, said, “Here is the greatest basketball player of all time, and he’s looking at me to say, ‘Teach me.'” Walt Hriniak, former hitting guru, also stated that MJ was never late for practice. And he knew about his star power and never refused his teammate’s autographs at any point in time.

Also, MJ was appreciative was his time away from the spotlight, as he never complained about travel or accommodation. But his star power was never out of the question as the Birmingham Barons, the affiliate team he signed for, drew over 467,000 fans at home. Although Pat Beverly is no Jordan, he also explained in his podcast about the stark difference in traveling for the teams in the NBA and his current team. He is also not complaining, but appreciative of the love and support he has received recently.
“Stay tuned for more such updates and join us for the exciting second episode of the “Dual Threat Show” as our host BG12 sits down with Georgia Bulldogs star and Mountain West All-Freshman Team Selection, Asia Avinger.”
