Despite a dominant showing, not every NBA superstar receives similar coverage. As a result, even a former 1st overall pick like Paolo Banchero can get lost in the shuffle. Even though his game has seen major improvements, he has yet to catch the eye of the national media. For hoop heads and former players, however, the talent on display is clear as day. One NBA veteran, looking to make a comeback, had an interesting comparison and reference for the 21-year-old. With a similar body structure and game, Carmelo Anthony could serve as the perfect foil for Banchero to take the jump.
“Paolo can really be the best ever to come outta the state if he keep working forreal! BIG BULLY! If I’m him I’m hitting up Carmelo to work for few weeks in the summer . Get all that mid range mid post work,” tweeted 2x All-Star Isaiah Thomas.

Due to the relatively similar size and skillset, the comparison from Thomas makes perfect sense. So, Anthony, one of the greatest scorers in NBA history, is the perfect answer for Paolo to hone his craft with. The Orlando Magic superstar has already shown a willingness to improve his game.
After a remarkable rookie season, the verdict on the Seattle native was his shaky jumper. However, to begin his sophomore campaign, he’s been among the most consistent shooters in the league. For the season, his 3-point jumper is above the 40% mark, typically the mark of a great shooter.

However, getting more comfortable, and learning counters from one of the best mid-range assassins could unlock Banchero to a whole new level. Not that there is a ton left to improve upon if the latest showing against the Boston Celtics is any example.

Despite brutal losses in back-to-back games against Boston, the Seattle native is beginning to take over the league. In their second encounter in as many days, Banchero was utterly dominant, going for 36 points and 10 rebounds. However, without any support alongside, he could not overcome a potent Celtics attack on its own.
For the men in green, the story was the combined excellence of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. The duo was millimeters away from breaking a long-standing record set by the likes of Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen.
