While there are a ton of debates that NBA fans get up to, the best point guard of all time isn’t one of them. That answer was solidified as Magic Johnson a long time ago. Since he walked into the league, Magic has been uno numero for point guards. However, his career will always be remembered for the What-If. Magic’s HIV diagnosis changed his entire life trajectory.

However, one thing it hasn’t diminished is his love for food. During his career, Johnson was famous for a lot of things. But, one of the more unexpected things, included his love for the culinary world. Today, after an arduous NBA season that saw a lot of activity from Magic, he shared a special moment with everyone.

Magic Johnson shares a moment with an Italian chef/friend

The legend shared a heartwarming picture on his Instagram stories, with the head chef of Mamo Michelangelo, a restaurant that specializes in Italian food. Their Instagram page shared a picture of Magic with the head chef in a tight hug. “More than 30 years of friendship with @magicjohnson.” the caption read. Johnson’s love for food, is not limited to visits to lip-smacking eateries.

Post-basketball, Earvin got busy as a businessman. While he repped the purple-and-gold for years, post-retirement he became a minority owner for the club. When he sold his stake with the Los Angeles Lakers, Johnson only switched brands, leading a group to purchase the Los Angeles Dodgers for $2 billion.

But, his investments didn’t stop there. Eventually, his love for food and business acumen joined hands. Now, an owner of over 100 Starbucks locations, along with dozens of? Burger Kings, his passion for the industry is still alive. In an interview with Forbes, he specifically mentioned his love for Italian food. “I love Italian food, the French do pastries and really bake amazing breads. Of course, the pasta in Italy. To go to Greece and get the fresh fish and the Greek salad, oh my goodness!”?

Looks like it is the same love that’s been taking him to Mamo Michelangelo for the past decades. It’s also great to see the legend enjoy his friendships post a grueling NBA season. As an ambassador of the league, Johnson was particularly active on Twitter, especially in his praise of Nikola Jokic.

The Magic Johnson-Nikola Jokic parallels

A 6’9 point guard was as close to an anomaly as you get when Magic entered the league. Perhaps, it is befitting that Nikola Jokic, point guard for the Nuggets, took home the award named after him.?Magic bestowed a ton of praise on Jokic, calling him the best player in the world. Rightfully so. For Jokic, it solidifies a magical 3-year run that has seen him be named the MVP in consecutive seasons.
