Six-time NBA champion Michael Jordan is one of the best trash-talkers the league has ever seen. Over the years, multiple opponents and teammates of Jordan have revealed some interesting stories about his trash-talking game. Notably, the Hall of Famer did not mind talking the talk even when he was a rookie. Of course, this did not change even after he achieved almost everything there is and became a billionaire. Recently, a legendary Oscar-winning rapper revealed how MJ “grounded” him out of nowhere during one of their encounters.
While some fans love a bit of trash-talking between stars, it still gets a lot of bad rap. However, it could light a fire under the bellies of competitive players to be better. Interestingly, that was exactly what happened with the Chicago Bulls legend during his youth.

Most fans are familiar with the fierce competitiveness of Michael Jordan. However, he is notoriously funny as well. From the limited amount of TV appearances he has made over the years, the funny version of MJ is there to be seen. When this is combined with his tendency to trash-talk, we have a dangerous mix, for others. Hilariously, rapper Common got a taste of it during the 2020 NBA All-Star weekend.
The hip-hop legend recently made an appearance on Men’s Health where he disclosed the stories behind some of his iconic pictures. One among the images was a picture of Common shaking hands with His Airness. While talking about it, the Oscar winner revealed how Jordan’s quick wit crushed him.
In the 2020 All-Star Celebrity Game, Common played incredibly. He made the game-winning free throws and took home the MVP award as well.
After the impressive performance, he met Jordan. Common recounted, “And Mike, in this picture, when I greeted him, he told me to stick to rapping. And I was like, ‘Mike you just didn’t see that game I had?’ I couldn’t believe that he didn’t recognize that my game was actually a good game. He grounded me in this picture for sure.”
