T-Mac can still get on the court and hit 13 points on your face in under 33 seconds! The former Orlando Magic and Houston Rockets superstar is known for one of the greatest heat checks in NBA history. Nearly 20 years later, McGrady took the time to recreate this iconic moment, and guess what? He did not miss a single shot, just like the good old days. As a fan of the game, anyone would agree that this is arguably the best performance someone has put in 30 seconds. Fans who remembered this nostalgic moment couldn’t help but pour their love towards McGrady for giving a new version.
“This video is for anyone who says I don’t still got it,“ said McGrady in his newly released version of ’13 points in 33 seconds.‘ There has never been a better heat check in NBA history because McGrady’s display came in a winning cause. That too against one of the best Western Conference teams back then, the San Antonio Spurs.
The Rockets trailed by 8 points with 33 seconds left on December 9, 2004. McGrady went on to hit 4 straight threes, all contested, which also included a 4-point play that sealed the game for the Houston unit. Former coach Jeff Van Gundy was pissed at the Rockets, despite getting things done in the last moment. He was furious and even blasted the team in the locker room for letting the game get out of grasp.

But you should know that history is created in moments like these. The 7x All-Star wouldn’t have hit 13 points in 33 seconds if the Rockets had maintained a lead. Nor the fans wouldn’t be calling this “One of the Greatest Moments in Sports“ even today.

A fan reminisces watching McGrady’s iconic sequence live at the Rockets arena
With 33 seconds left on the shot clock and the Rockets trailing down by 8 points, it’s safe to say most fans in the arena would have left the game. However, this one Spurs fan did not leave, as he wanted to see the winning honors. Well, McGrady did not allow that. The fan commented, “I was at this game in Spurs gear from head to toe. Got in a little bit of shit on the way out. TMac was not to be fkd with that night.”
There was another fan who watched this game live from home. Every superstar has his moment in the league. According to this fan, McGrady’s legacy was cemented after that performance. He said, “Remember watching this live. Man, your legendary status was cemented that night.”

Another user commented hilariously, “Suit up the rockets might need you.” Honestly, that’s a fair point considering the playoff drought of the Rockets. They made it to the postseason last time in 2020. T-Mac can help maybe!
“Holla at the NBA, they need to scrap the celeb game and have an old school players game, I know some of these guys dyin to hoop against some other old heads,” said another user. This could be an entertaining addition to the All-Star game. Who would not want to see legends like McGrady back on the court again?
