In a recent podcast episode of ?Point Forward?, the 4x NBA champion discusses the referee culture of today?s league. Iguodala confesses, ?I’m trying to be a Good Samaritan. I try to be a good ambassador to the games but I?m not going to miss the refs.?

The former GSW star explains, ?Few of them had me like?.A ref made me so mad last season that I?m like ?Yeah I need to retire.”??He laughs as he continues, ?I?m just being for real. Because you know why?? I hope they don?t ?clip? this as to where I say that they?re (refs) cheating. I?m not saying that. I’m saying they are too involved in the game.?.

Iguodala explains that the objective of officiating is to keep the game within the rules and be held accountable. He states the referees should be ?as unseen as possible?. He then explains that Javale McGee (his former GSW teammate) once shared an interesting piece of information with him. Iguodala shares, ?They (refs) had it on certain arenas?the bios of the referees. What school they went to their favorite meal. Their favorite movie. I’m like ?What? I’ve never seen this.? and he was like ?they be in them arenas. Get to know the refs.?.?

 

Andre Iguodala finally states that he is a purist of the game and he would prefer if the basketball community just let the people working in the NBA be themselves and not anything else.

When Andre Iguodala announced his retirement from the NBA

After an incredible 19-year-long NBA career, Andre Iguodala announced his retirement from the NBA last week on his social media handle. After being interviewed by ESPN post his announcement, the NBA Finals MVP confesses, ?It was a beautiful run. Beautiful ride. Played in some great cities and some great organizations. Learned a lot and made some great teammates.?.

Andre Iguodala then talks about his future plans. He mentions, ?I have started my own venture firm ?MOSAIC?investing in companies all the way from health tech to sports media rights, software, ecosystem??

The 39-year-old NBA veteran is a four-time NBA champion for GSW, a two-time All-Defensive team, a one-time All-Star, and the 2017 NBA Finals MVP. The Golden State Warriors owner had earlier mentioned in 2019 that they would retire Igudala?s No. 9 jersey for his contribution and long relationship with the organization’s achievements.
