“Don’t be afraid to communicate your idea. Talk about your vision, people you need to hear it. The more you talk about it, the more people will listen.” Carmelo Anthony once spoke about his business deals and manifestation helps him achieve different goals. Which he why has been able to dabble in different industries from fashion to production and even wine. Last week he announced his entry into another industry, but before we deep dive into that, let’s focus on another update from Melo.
“Whatever product I put out, there’s going to be a very authentic product, true to myself, something that I believe people would enjoy. I take my experience from USA basketball and traveling. So, I’m trying to create the World Cup of Wines, in a sense.” In a conversation with Boardroom, the Knicks legend opened up about his next steps in the $441.60 billion worth industry. Why is Carmelo Anthony looking to expand into the wine industry? Because by 2030, the industry will reach a valuation of $698.54 billion.
“That’s how I look at my strategy. Like, okay, I’m gonna go to France, Australia I’m over here with the NBL, I’m going to China, I went to Lisbon and Portugal, South Africa, Argentina, Chile. Like we gonna hit all of these places around the world, man. And really create the World Cup of Wines.” That’s not all; he even has some content plans for his wine brand, VII(N) The Seventh Estate.

They will be creating TV shows around wines, traveling, and identifying winemakers. Plus, how do we pair wine with the food and provide an experience like no other. That’s when he compared the idea to Anthony Bourdain, who was an American celebrity chef, author, and travel documentarian. “So, you know, I’m like Bourdain over here.”
But before the conversation ended, Melo did not like that he revealed many details about it. “I’m giving away a lot of my s—.”His wine brand seems to be doing well, as he promoted the latest bottle a few months ago on the Jimmy Fallon Show. Speaking about promotion, the 10x All-Star is ready to kick the door down of the $59.36 billion industry.

Ahead of his HOF year, Carmelo Anthony continues to grow his business portfolio
As Melo stated in his Boardroom interview, his products would be authentic. After wine, if there is another industry which he has been a connoisseur, then it’s the cigar industry. The cigar market is currently estimated at $59.36 billion in 2025. By 2030, Mordor Intelligence projects the industry growth to $97.48 billion.
So, in a partnership, he will soon launch his “VERSA” brand. Just like the wine business, Carmelo Anthony was already used to smoking. “I smoke a majority of the time at home, right after a game or on the weekend, or I’ll sit outside, out in my yard. Or in a cigar room. I’ll light a cigar and drink a glass of red wine.”
This venture will be in partnership with King Makers Cigar. Yes, the same brand that has launched Kelsey Plum’s cigar. On their website, they have added: “VERSA BY MELO COMING SOON.” Going into the potential HOF in a few months’ time, Carmelo Anthony still has his focus on other business ventures.
