“Finally feeling a bit like myself,” Luka said and it is quite clear as he destroyed the Nuggets in their game against the Lakers. While there was uncertainty for the team when the Luka Doncic-Anthony Davis trade took place, it is obvious that nothing is the same because it got a whole lot better! What if Luka Doncic was never traded to the Lakers? What if the Mavs had held onto their superstar? Well, after his 32-point explosion and a hilarious locker room moment, Lakers fans are just glad they don’t have to wonder.
Chemistry on the court comes with chemistry within the teammates themselves. Well, Luka seems to fit right in because after JJ Redick wrapped up his press conference, he was caught by Ryan Ward heading toward the Lakers’ locker room when he spotted Luka Doncic in the hallway making the most wholesome comment.
Luka, fresh off a game where he snagged four steals, was lifting weights—or something along those lines. And well, Luka being Luka couldn’t help but crack a joke when he saw Redick. “Did you talk about my steals?” Luka asked with a big grin, as Ward later shared on X. Priceless, right?

Caught a funny moment heading to the Lakers locker room after JJ’s presser. Luka is lifting weights or something in the hallway and he sees JJ coming his way and says: “Did you talk about my steals?” with a huge smile on his face — Priceless! Doncic had four steals tonight

Now, why does this matter? Well, with all the trade chaos, some fans worried the locker room vibe might be off. Especially since Dalton Knecht and Cam Reddish had to return after the Mark Williams trade fell through. It’s no secret that Knecht, praised by Redick as a key part of the Lakers’ core, might feel a bit awkward rejoining the squad.
Even Chandler Parsons didn’t sugarcoat it, saying, “Let’s call a spade a spade; this is awkward as hell for Dalton Knecht and Cam Reddish to go back to that locker room…” Awkward? Maybe. But judging by Luka’s playful energy, the vibe might be more lighthearted than we think. So, Lakers fans, maybe there’s hope that this team is already finding its rhythm—despite the chaos.
Luka Doncic’s recent performance has to be a result of a positive locker room environment
Have you ever noticed how a supportive team vibe can transform a player’s game? It seems that for Luka, that supportive energy has made all the difference. We all know that change isn’t easy, especially when it comes with a dramatic career shift.
Now, consider this: the trade from the Dallas Mavericks must have been even more shocking for him than for any of the Mavs fans. Imagine dreaming of building a Dirk Nowitzki-like legacy with the Mavericks, only to see everything unravel before your eyes. And if you were watching when he first arrived with the Lakers, you might have picked up on his initial awkward mannerisms, captured by the ever-watchful cameras. It’s clear that the only way Luka could truly flourish was to embrace his new surroundings wholeheartedly, accepting his new team as home.
Then there’s that recent locker room interaction with Redick. If that isn’t a sign of Luka getting comfortable, well, his recent performance against the Denver Nuggets certainly is. But the real treat for us fans came during his performance against the Denver Nuggets. If you caught the game, you know exactly what I mean: Luka wasted no time making his presence felt. In the first quarter itself, he displayed exceptional skills the Lakers fans had been waiting for as he scored 16 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, and dished out 3 assists.
Luka eventually ended the night with 32 points—his best scoring performance since joining the Lakers. After averaging just 14.7 points on 35.6 percent shooting in his first three games, it was clear that fans were eagerly waiting for this new, electrifying version of Luka to take charge. And it seems the positive Locker room environment along with his All-Star break has done worked it’s magic.
