“You are our rock.” That’s how Michael Jordan’s eldest son, Jeffrey Jordan, once described his mother, Juanita Vanoy. And honestly, it’s hard to argue with that. From celebrating her kids’ milestones to always being there for her extended family, Juanita has been the glue holding them together. But this time, it’s her middle child, Marcus Jordan, who’s giving her flowers—on a special occasion, no less.
Michael Jordan and Juanita’s love story began in 1984 at a Chicago Bennigan’s restaurant. They tied the knot in 1989, but their marriage came to an end in 2006. Still, Juanita’s legacy isn’t just tied to being the wife of a basketball icon. That’s exactly why TROPHY ROOM is celebrating her as part of “Black History Month.”
“Juanita Vanoy’s legacy extends beyond her marriage to Michael Jordan, embodying resilience, independence, and philanthropy. As a mother, she instilled hard work, humility, and compassion in her three children, guiding them in their diverse careers. In business and philanthropy, her investments and charitable work have made a lasting impact on many individuals and organizations, reflecting her dedication to service and community,” their heartfelt post read.

So, why is Marcus the one leading this tribute? Well, TROPHY ROOM is his brainchild. Inspired by the trophy room in the Jordan family estate, Marcus launched the boutique in 2016, offering exclusive sneakers, apparel, and memorabilia. Its first store opened at Disney Springs in Walt Disney World Resort, and it quickly became a go-to spot for sneakerheads and Jordan fans alike.

However, even as her children carve their own paths, Juanita remains the rock of the Jordan family. Whether through her wisdom, generosity, or unwavering support, she continues to inspire—proving that her legacy is about much more than a last name.

MJ’s ex-wife Juanita is the “rock” for her family
During Jeffrey Jordan’s 36th birthday, Juanita Vanoy made sure her eldest son felt the love. She posted a throwback picture of the two of them, captioning it, “Today is my oldest son’s birthday. Pls join me in wishing Jeffrey @heirjordan13 a very happy Birthday.” But that wasn’t the only time she’s made her kids feel special.
Marcus Jordan once shared how his mother surprised him with a poster of his iconic dunk as a birthday gift. The memory came rushing back when he reposted a dunk video on his Instagram story, leading him to give his mom a well-deserved shoutout. “S/O TO MY LOVELY MOTHER @IAMTHEONLYONEJUANITA FOR GIFTING ME THIS DOPE POSTER OF THAT PREVIOUS DUNK, POSTING THAT REMINDED ME WHEN SHE GIFTED ME THIS A BUNCH OF BDAYS AGO,” he wrote.

Juanita’s thoughtful messages go beyond birthdays. When Jeffrey and his wife, Radina Aneva, celebrated their five-year anniversary, she didn’t miss the chance to send her love. “To my son & daughter-in-law: Happy Anniversary, may you have many more anniversaries ahead. Love you both,” she wrote.
Interestingly, Jeffrey’s bond with his mom has always been strong, especially considering the challenges of being Michael Jordan’s son. When he played basketball at the University of Illinois, he chose jersey number 13—a tribute to Juanita’s own basketball days. Even in subtle ways, he continues to honor the woman who’s been his biggest supporter from day one.
