A 20-year-long run has come to a devastating end for a member of the Phoenix Suns. DJ Super Snake, the commentator of ‘The Valley‘ has not only put an end to his 40-year radio career but also has bid his farewell to the world. The 61-year-old commentator brought so many smiles, joy, and laughter to the people all over America, and especially the fans of the Phoenix Suns. DJ Super Snake had a plan for a surprise New Year party, but now fans are mourning his demise all over the internet. One of them is former Suns superstar Eddie Johnson, who was stunned by the sudden death.

Johnson was not in the Suns when Super Snake arrived at Phoenix. However, the 61-year-old’s expressive and popular commentary got Johnson’s and several others’ attention pretty soon. On this sad day, Johnson shared, “Nooooo! This man was so amazing and uplifting. Prayers go out to Super Snakes Family, friends and Fans.”

It’s safe to say Super Snake was a lucky charm for Phoenix. The Suns made it to their first-ever dream NBA Finals headed by Charles Barkley, right after the radio superstar entered ‘The Valley’. He also covered the intense games between the Suns and the Chicago Bulls in the Finals. Right from 1993, Super Snake has only been an entertainer for the state of Arizona. Just like Johnson, thousands were devastated by his loss. 

How impactful was DJ Super Snake on the radio field?

Super Snake was the radio host for ‘HOT 97.5’ and ‘HOT 103.9’, aka, ‘Rhythm of the Valley’. The 61-year-old was active from 7 in the evening till 12 in the night when the entire city aches for a chance to interact with him. On his demise, his colleague Charlie Huero spoke about the impact he left in the radio world, which eventually teared him up. 

Huero shared, “This is the kind of effect he had…Sorry” as he started to get emotional. He continued with a shaky voice, “This is the kind of effect he had on people, in careers and you know, kids that were coming in… and Snake was really good at saying…’ Hey come on man, you gotta pick it up’, you know he was like that. ”

To sum up the kind of impact Super Snake had, Huero read an emotional post from a colleague who shared her experience working with him, “He was my mentor for over 20 years… Snake was one of a kind. You never had to guess around him as he was as real as they come… This one hits hard. He always pushed me to be better and even when he wasn’t my boss, he was still watching,”
