Manila’s stage was set for two of the best teams to make it to the finals of the FIBA World Cup. Team USA has been looking strong following their dominant victory against Italy to get to the semifinals. But the semi-final match didn’t go as expected, as the USA got taken out in unbelievable fashion by none other than Germany on the grandest stage.

Following Noah Lyles’ comments about NBA champions calling themselves world champions a few days ago, the NBA players were quick to retaliate and put the young athlete in his place. But with this current result, the fans are showing absolutely no mercy and are using Lyles’s comment on the NBA from the press conference to bash the team.

Team USA gets knocked out of gold contention by Germany

Team USA was leading by 1 point at halftime with a score of 60-59. But Germany’s run in the 3rd quarter gave them a significant cushion that allowed them to stay afloat even with the USA outscoring them 27-19 in the 4th quarter. The match ended with a score of 111-113, and Anthony Edwards’s costly turnover in the final moments proved fatal as Germany moved on to face Serbia in the finals.

Team USA had no problem scoring the ball, but Steve Kerr and his team had no answer to Germany, as six of their players scored in double digits. The Warrior’s playstyle has yet again failed when it matters on the big stage. The guard-oriented team and playstyle completely failed to stop Germany from scoring the ball. Team USA will now face Canada for bronze on Sunday.
