Charles Barkley is closely tied to the sport of basketball. Dominating the court for decades got his name etched in the hallowed halls of the NBA Hall of Fame. But his post-retirement stint has also kept him at the front of the basketball community’s mind. From taking shots at NBA players to playing golf with them, Chuck is no stranger to headlines. Recently, Barkley was seen showing off his ice hockey skills but as it turns out, the 1993 MVP is nowhere as good on ice as he was on the hardwood.
The Phoenix Suns legend was recently seen on a live television show where he was showing off his rather sub-par hockey skills. Safe to say, the audience was just not impressed.

Following the celebrity softball game, an MLB Twitter account shared a video of Chicago Bulls star Zach Lavine crushing a home run. This led someone to ponder that “NBA players can literally plan any other sport if they wanted to.” This is when someone dug up an old clip of Chuck on ice. It was an elaborate way of disagreeing with the above statement.
In the clip, The Round Mound of Rebound made an appearance on a live TV segment discussing the game of ice hockey. Towards the end of their conversation, the panelists were seen showing off their hockey stance. This prompted Barkley to step up to the frozen pitch. And then, of course, hilarity ensued.

In the clip, some ice hockey enthusiasts attempt to help Barkley with his ice hockey swing. But seeing how the NBA Hall of Famer was holding the hockey stick, the panelist knew it would be impossible. He shrieked, “Oh, No, no, no Oh my god. How much time do we have left?”
It was quite evident Barkley was new to the game of hockey. Certainly, the panelist made it clear that it might take them some time to teach him the basics.
Turns out, regardless of how great an athlete is, it does not guarantee brilliance in a totally different sport. Who would’ve thought?

Charles Barkley has previously shown interest in hockey. At least, he claimed that the series between two teams got so boring that he switched to watching the Stanley Cup.
Charles Barkley was not enjoying how the series between the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Denver Nuggets was panning out and as a result, he switched to the Stanley Cup. Barkley said, “I was watching hockey on TBS I’m not gonna lie. This game is boring as hell.”

The Olympic gold medalist indulged the game of hockey as he switched to Stanley Cup. But clearly, he did not have kind words to share about it. Hard to imagine that a day would come when the NBA legend would choose hockey over basketball.
