Big man, Rudy Gobert of the Minnesota Timberwolves, was handed a hefty punishment by the NBA for suggesting to referees that he thought they had a wager on Friday night’s game versus the Cleveland Cavaliers

Not long ago, in a YouTube show of Big Shot Bob Podcast, the former seven-time NBA champion recalled the moment Gobert made a hand gesture that looked like money. As he made his way out to the locker room, the officials handed him a technical foul. According to Robert Keith Horry, aka ‘Big Shot Bob’, the fine amount by the NBA was justifiable for Gobert’s act.

He claimed, “I think the part because you gotta think about what had happened in the NBA with what’s the guy who got kicked out of the NBA the ref. I don’t know my brain is today that guy. But then you think about how much B is involved in basketball now. Not just with knowing all the sports you know. So I think the NBA is really self-conscious about that.”

Big Shot Bob agreed with the NBA decision.

So you know nip something in the bud real quick you send out a healthy fire. You know this is this is one of the things I would I told with like all these guys who talk crazy to refs nip that sh*t in the bud.” He said.

After receiving a late foul, Gobert implied that the refs were betting on the game

The NBA fined Rudy Gobert $100,000 on Sunday for making a disrespectful gesture and openly criticizing the referees. It happened during Friday night’s defeat to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Gobert received his sixth foul of the game with under 30 seconds remaining in a close contest, with the Timberwolves holding a 97-96 lead against the Cavaliers. Scott Foster’s decision to have Gobert fouled out was something that upset him.

Gobert rubbed his fingers together as he walked off the court, implying that the officials were betting on the game. It goes beyond the technical foul Gobert handed, since the league did not appreciate his actions. In response to Gobert’s gesture, the NBA fined him $100,000.

The fine takes into account Gobert’s past instances of conduct detrimental to the NBA about publicly criticizing the officiating,” NBA executive vice president and head of basketball operations Joe Dumars said.

The most frustrating aspect was that the Cavs tied the game because of the technical penalty. Yet Cleveland eventually prevailed, 113-104.
