Despite winning the championship with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020, an 8x NBA All-Star had to continue his career overseas. The 37-year-old had quite a successful NBA career. However, there was a scarcity of reasonable offers for him, which forced him to go abroad. Nonetheless, his move overseas garnered a lot of criticism. NBA great Shaquille O’Neal has been trolling and criticizing him ever since his departure. Unaffected by this humiliation, he posted an IG story flaunting his lifestyle in China.

Dwight Howard is a familiar name in the NBA world. Due to an unexpected turn of events, Howard switched his career from the NBA to the T1 league in Taiwan. He played for Taoyuan Leopards, where he had some monstrous stat lines.

Time to teach Mandarin

The former Lakers center has been working to get some of the biggest players with colorful NBA profiles to Taiwan. James Harden is the most prominent prey for the Taiwan recruit mission currently. In an Instagram post, Howard posted a video of him speaking Mandarin.

The 3x NBA Defensive Player of the Year uttered a few words and made everyone excited. He captioned the video, “Ayee James, if you need Mandarin lessons let me know Rate my Mandarin skills.”

He directed James Harden to rate his Mandarin skills. Despite his successful spell in the T1 league, the 8x NBA All-Star had to quit the T1 league and return to the US after some despondent incidents in Taiwan.

Turn of events for Dwight Howard in Taiwan

Dwight Howard was having the time of his life in Taiwan. The first season with Tayuan Leopards was quite impactful for the NBA great. He even posed in many commercials, exhilarating his alternative lifestyle. However, his Taiwan tenure didn’t end well after he was asked to take a pay cut of 65%. Howard signed a $1 million contract initially.

While the T1 usually caps the salary of foreign players to $200,000, they approved an exception for Howard. After a one-year stint in Taiwan, the former Los Angeles Lakers player has expressed his desire to restart his career in the NBA.
