It’s been four days since the Boston Celtics defeated the Dallas Mavericks. Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and his teammates finished their parade in Boston today, from Causeway Street outside the TD Garden to Hynes Convention Center. However, all this while, the NBA fans have been regretting the results of the finals. After the Oilers tied the series against the Panthers in the Stanley Cup Finals, the NBA buffs revealed their true thoughts about the Celtics vs the Mavericks. Thanks to Oilers forward Warren Foegele, who instigated this regret with a stunning Kobe Bryant tribute, a ritual of his. 

The late Los Angeles Lakers legend is everywhere. The Edmonton Oilers have forced a game 7 in the Stanley Cup Finals against the Florida Panthers, after starting the series 0-3. 1945 was the last time this happened in the NHL. Thanks to Leon Draisaitl, who has kept the Oilers alive. However, his teammate Warren Foegele stole the show, by wearing a Kobe Bryant t-shirt for the third time this series. 

Foegele wore a shirt with a picture of Bryant in a Gretzky Oilers jersey. He wore this in the 2002 playoff series when he delivered his third championship. The Oilers forward wanted to prove to the doubters that the ‘job was not done‘, even though his team was down 0-3. Now, after 6 games, the series is tied and we are all set for the most-awaited game 7 of the NHL.

At the same time, this made the NBA fans jealous. The Stanley Cup Finals has turned out to be an edge-of-the-seat thriller, and the basketball buffs now believe the Celtics vs the Mavericks was underwhelming.

Sports buffs who have no idea about ice hockey are now interested in game 7 of the Stanley Cup. The very fact that a team has recovered from a 0-3 deficit has excited them. But also at the same time, Warren Foegele’s Kobe Bryant ritual has caught the attention of the NBA fans. A fan wrote, “Ngl this is probably the fyest pic I’ve seen all year” after Foegele’s shirt went viral. 

Foegele scored the first goal for the Oilers today. That start helped the Edmonton unit to finish the game 5-1. After his performance today, fans gave him the Mamba Mentality tag instantly. “I don’t watch hockey but he gots that mamba mentality look on his face”, wrote an Instagram user. 

Now that the series is tied, fans want the Oilers to make history with a game 7 win. If they do so, here is a special request for Foegele, “When they win game 7 that shirts gotta be framed and hung in the Louvre”. Let’s hope this happens because this would be the best NBA x NFL crossover. 

On the other hand, a few basketball buffs shared their disappointment in the NBA Finals this year. A user commented, “What the NBA finals should have been“, highlighting the difference between the finals of the two leagues. Sadly, we do not get to see a team come back from a 3-1 deficit every year! 

“The sports gods really had to choose between a Mavs comeback or a Oilers comeback “, commented another fan, and clearly, the NFL was the chosen one this time. Anyhow, game 7 is on the cards and even basketball fans are excited to tune into it on June 24.
