The last few weeks have seen the Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson deal with disappointments one after the other. Due to the football season being in full swing, and his recent acquisition of the Washington Commanders, they have been under the spotlight. Unfortunately, it isn’t a pretty sight in the nation’s capital as the team continues to struggle. However, the GOAT Point Guard did get exceptionally good news through a different avenue.

This time around, it was Major League Soccer that gave Magic a big victory.

After a grueling regular season, the playoffs were always going to be a tough battle. Despite holding the number 3 seed in their Conference, Los Angeles Football Club could persevere to another Conference Finals appearance.

While the competition is strong, LAFC is firmly in a position to repeat last year’s Championship-winning heroics. But, their path only gets tougher from here. In their Conference Semi-Final encounter against the Seattle Sounders, it was a competitive matchup.

Eventually, LA would hold on to their one-goal lead that they got via a Denis Bouanga beauty in the 30th minute. Led by 2019 MVP Carlos Vela, the team is ready to repeat as champions. And Magic seems ready as well as he tweeted, “I’m so excited my team LAFC is advancing to the MLS Conference Finals after beating Seattle 1-0!” However, in front of them lies the Cinderella story of the Houston Dynamos.

After a 13th-place finish for Houston last season, the team has gone through a remarkable turnaround. But, even if LA  somehow escapes the Dynamos, on the other side could be the league MVP Luciano Acosta with FC Cincinnati.

A few bright spots for the Washington Commanders?

Despite the team starting off the season in less than ideal fashion, the Commanders fans do have a few things going for them. Due to the incorporation of former Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Beiniemy, the offense for Washington has been solid to spectacular.

More importantly, it has given new life to QB Sam Howell, who is having one of the best statistical years of any quarterback in the league. With the new ownership firmly aiming towards contention, the foundational pieces are already being planted.
